What our customers say about their holidays
Tracy - Verified booking
Property filthy, mould on the bath mat, shower curtain and bath plug.
Round the window in the bathroom is mouldy. Bath temperature goes to freezing every few minutes. Dirty in kitchen including where the wall is breaking away. Radiator in the bathroom is full of rust and the towel rail fell apart on the first day. Thick dust on all the light fittings. Towels are thin and well worn, no hand towels. Lack of home comforts for a very cold house (blankets) Lighting in master bedroom is pointless with the dimmer switch broken. Knob to turn the cooker on is broken. Damp in the lounge and poorly decorated. Extremely poorly equipped kitchen. Kitchen cupboards smell of mould so crockery smells. Knives are blunt and unusable. Sieve is covered in rust and limescale. 3 matching wine glasses and mismatched drinking glasses. Side plates are scratched and not nice to use, very basic mismatched equipment. The kick boards in the kitchen are broken and there is dirt along the open cabinets in the kitchen. Dust across most of the beams in the kitchen. Dyson hoover plug attached to the wall with no hoover. Under-stairs landlord storage is messy as well as storage bags and Christmas tree box not put away. Soap in the downstairs toilet was left empty as well as cleaning products under the sink. Kitchen sponge is old and unusable. Welcome pack is limited. Bin collection is wrong so we werenât able to put the bins out. Empty bottle from previous guest left outside the side door and the side access is filthy. No explanation or reviews of local restaurants, all information that could be googled. Walks would be more useful to be from Lyme Regis. We book with Sykes twice a year but after the state of this property we will be looking to book with a different company.

We selected this property because it was central in the town and as we were not planning on exploring the wider area of Dorset or Devon.
We were not disappointed. The house is very conveniently located for a week's stat in Lyme where we hadn't visited before. It was very comfortable,be specially the beds, and the constant sound of the river burbling its way past the house on its way to the sea was delightful. Occasionally, when the tides were high, the waves reached as fast as the house which just added to the experience. As with any holiday rental , even with the best, there are always some minor niggles. One such in this house is that there isn't a collander for draining pasta and the corkscrew is a bit iffy. We also noticed dust falling from gaps in the ceiling above the cooker hood. An easy fix. Sealant around the bath could do with replacing as well. All in all though we had a very enjoyable stay.

Beds comfy and overall house was clean and tidy.
A good location to walk down into Weymouth. Not so good were the following. The two beige chairs in the lounge were too big, low, soft and uncomfy, need replacing. Bin under sink was found smelly and a bit dirty. Four light bulbs in the lounge were broken and the clock in the kitchen stopped working on Wednesday morning. The shower screens, bathroom titles and ceiling needs a good deep clean as black mold around. No anti slip mat for the slippery shower tray. Main things was heating we found was turned off at the boiler. Noisy neighbours, to the left of house from the front, disruptive one night from 1am to 2.30am, then an ambulance was called. Obviously the neighbour situation is beyond owners control but sadly it would put us off using Rockpools holiday house again.

The cottage should be nice, it’s in a nice enough quiet location. The village does not have a pub as advertised and you cannot walk to the beach from the cottage. The huge problem is the state of neglect that the cottage is in, it is seriously dirty, to the extent that we wanted to leave immediately (yes we did call out the cleaners again, which made it bearable - but still not clean at all). The bedding had not been changed since the last guests, dead flowers on the table, the oven is broken, kettle and toaster all dirty and need replacing, the cupboards are all stained, cobwebs everywhere with dead insects in them, the list goes on and on. I took photographs of all of this, this is the worst cottage I have ever stayed in and should be avoided.

This was our third year in a row for hiring this particular property.
The location for our requirements with the dog(Bella) is excellent. Easy access to Newton's Cove & Nothe Gardens, town centre & beach within 10 minute walk. Shops bars restaurants all close by would suggest checking out Sandsfoot Castle beach usually quiet this time of the year lovely for the dog also. House is well kept clean & tidy located in a quiet Cul-de-sac. Just one thing we would like to suggest is that the changing of the chairs in the lounge wouldn't go a miss, the couch is comfortable but the chairs aren't. The previous two years the chairs were comfy. Overall we both think that you can't go wrong with hiring this house, yes probably will be back next year around the same time(November) quiet easy to access wherever you want to go..
