  The cottage is easy to find.

  I used google maps to follow the directions and found that useful beforehand. The cottage is set in a pretty garden. The entrance is quite tight if you have a large car and may require a bit of manoeuvring. The cottage was spotless throughout. The welcome basket was enjoyed during our stay. A small bottle of milk was in the fridge for us on arrival. Plenty of information in the guest guide about the property, area, places to eat etc. There are folders in the kitchen and utility rooms with information about the appliances. This became very useful when I had to discover why the dishwasher didn’t want to work, it had run out of rinse aid and salt, which were fortunately provided. The high quality furniture was comfortable throughout. We enjoyed the tv in the lounge which was easy to navigate, although it required updating before it would work one day, which my husband found easy to do following the instructions on the screen. We found that we were waking very early each morning due to the lack of blackout blinds or curtain liners in the bedrooms, and the local cockerel. The local pub was a short walk away and we enjoyed Sunday lunch served there. There are plenty of places to visit a short drive away from Hawkchurch in this beautiful area. Would recommend this property to everyone wanting a comfortable places to stay.

  Thank you for enabling a perfect family reunion at Hutchinghayes Farmhouse. Your house and gardens are magical. Everyone - from ages 3 to 80! - was delighted. The house was perfectly appointed: we wanted for nothing. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable, and the sheets immaculately ironed (please extend our thanks to the lovely Hazel). All was in great taste, including the fabulous collection of books that truly can suit every. The internet was also surprisingly fast and reliable. As a keen gardener, I was of course delighted to be able to stroll in your beautiful gardens and to admire the wisteria, roses, climbing hydrangeas that grace the buildings, as well as to walk about the ponds. My heart skipped a beat at the magical boathouse. The wider area is also stunning. Particular highlights were the Pig at Combe in Gittisham, Branscombe, the cliff walks on the Golden Cap, the drive to the Five Bells and, of course, Dartmoor National Park. We stopped at Stourhead along the way, which I would recommend to anyone coming from the East. Thank you again for your warm welcome, flexibility and responsiveness throughout.   Lovely location stunning views , but quite hard to find when you first arrive we ended up in another farm and they gave directions . Beautiful barn really large , lovely size for a family with a huge boot room and utility room , great for the dog nice enclosed garden . Main bedroom is really large with a sitting area and television which was a lovely space . Property was very clean , and the welcome pack was lovely and very much appreciated, some of the saucepans and trays were a little tired but adequate especially when put in dishwasher , probably other holiday makers not checking . A big thank you to the builders who when we told them the tin opener was broken brought us a new one and a bottle of wine as an apology so that was really appreciated . Overall really lovely property , the area is really lovely near to Devon and Somerset and with lots of different things to visit . Biggest thing on shopping list a full length mirror this was mentioned by several people in the guest book . We would certainly recommend the property and hope to return as we love Dorset . One other thing it was lovely and warm so nice to walk into a warm property when you arrive heating was so efficient would certainly be cosy in the winter .

  We rented both the farm house and the barn at Hutchinghayes for a large family celebration. We could not have been happier. Both the properties were perfect in every detail and we all enjoyed the sun lounge in the main farm house as our party room. However, the most enjoyable aspect was the stunning garden. Although it was very chilly whilst we were there (early April), we were fortunate that it didn't rain so we spent so much time exploring the grounds, walking around the lakes, feeding the ducks and geese and the children were highly amused by the pot bellied pig. We had the most wonderful weekend and would not hesitate to recommend Hutchinghayes as the perfect place to catch up with family and friends and to enjoy the peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings. I would also add that, as a family group, we have rented many holiday properties but Hutchinghayes has slotted in to our number one slot. We will definitely be back. - Susanna Teall

  Lovely well equipped house. We visited for a week in April with 6 adults, 2 young children and 2 dogs. The extensive grounds allowed for exercising the dogs and were very attractive. The house was warm and furnished to a high standard with plenty of space in the communal rooms. We made good use of the games room and conservatory. The owner is helpful and on hand if required. Having 2 small children dictated how we spent our time. We visited the donkey sanctuary, free and much better than expected. Pecorama, half price this year, good train ride and playground. Seaton Tram way and wetlands, excellent, with a visit to Seaton for fish and chip lunch. Lyme Regis beach and fossil hunting, check the tides. We would highly recommend Otter farm and ice cream just a few mins drive away..
