Dog Friendly Cottages In Gairloch

Gairloch - the little known wonder Scotland wants to keep all to itself! Thankfully, our holiday cottages in Gairloch are busting the mystery, shedding light on this Loch-loving village and the scenic beauty within. Where horizons are made up of mountains and the water is an unspoilt blue, Gairloch offers up traditional Highland charm and a tonne of rocky coastline that'll take your short break over the edge.

A Gairloch holiday cottage doesn't just get you the glassy waters, but to a marvellously quaint village at its heart. With its own Heritage Museum, tourist market and golf course, it's the perfect combination of relaxation meets get-up-and-go. The harbour is the perfect place to arrange a boat trip if you're keen to spot for whales, seals and dolphins, while the local bistros and coffee shops make for a great place to sit back and relax. Our Gairloch holidays are cosy, whitewashed gems with amazing access to the sea, so what are you waiting for? Make this the year you explore the Highlands.

What our customers say about their holidays

Chapel house is the right place to stay if you want to switch off and recharge the batteries.

Lower Diabaig is absolutely stunning as is Torridon which is a short drive away through the mountain pass. Chapel house has most of the amities you need but I would advise taking extra logs with you during the winter months incase you cannot drive out to buy more. The fridge is a normal under-counter one with a small compartment for a freezer so not a fridge/freezer as we were expecting. Shower is not a walk in but more like a step in. If you are over 6ft you may struggle as my husband did. We didn’t miss having a tv one bit. The view is beautiful but you are located near the owners home & another cabin. There are more houses around then you realise so not totally remote. The small track leading to the cabin is rather untidy which can ruin the appearance of the area. Cleanliness of the cabin could have been much better. I understand cobwebs can appear over night but a few of these cobwebs have been there for weeks. Toothbrush holders could do with replacing or having a very good clean. Also shower grouting could do with a deep clean. Toilet brush needs replacing. Wasn’t expecting to find boxer shorts in the washing machine from the previous occupants, apologies to them but I did bin the boxer shorts. Fridge needs pulling out for a good clean as does the cooker. Cooker inside could also do with a deep clean. The outside steps leading up on to the cabin walk way could do with a handrail. As does the steps leading down from the car parking area. The cabin is set in a tiny woodland which you cannot walk through due to other properties. Apart from the level of cleanliness we did enjoy our stay for Christmas.

A lovely little place that has a remarkable amount of space and is well equippes.

3 bathrooms really make the difference if you have 8 people! Mattresses are a little basic, but they absolutely do the job. Heating system makes noise at night, so had to trip the circuit breakers; owner aware and has had multiple people around to resolve the issue. Still ongoing and only a minor thing overall Kitchen well stocked with crockery etc, but be aware nothing in cupboards from previous guests so bring everything you need. Living area is nice and spacious, with Lazy Boy chairs and the the WiFi is nice and quick. Great selection of classic books if you want to unplug too. Outdoors the beach is close and a brook is through the gate at the bottom of the garden (which is sealed for dogs). Enough to do for a chilled break - Boom Beach, Arctic Convoy Museum and brisk walks beyond the Perfume Studio. The store in Aultbea is better stocked than Gairloch, so don’t travel unnecessarily! Nice farm shop there though, next to the Chinese takeaway. Also, beach in Gairloch by golf club is lovely - perfect for wading and the cafe is fantastic. Decent food and really friendly proprietors. Overall, perfect for a week away with young kids to unwind but still have something simple to do each day.

    This property is wonderful.

The design and layout are fantastic, and the secure wrap around garden is perfect for the dogs. The garden is huge. There has been an addition of outside seating, which is a lovely place to sit at any time of the day. Inside is very spacious, and the kitchen is well designed and has everything you could possibly need. The beds are big and very comfortable, and all the bathrooms are wet rooms finished to a high standard. It was lovely to have bread, milk, and eggs waiting for us on arrival as well. Also, the welcome pack has lots of good tips, take time, and read through it. I do feel special mention has to be made of the level of cleanliness. It was first class. By far and away the cleanest holiday home we have rented, they do a great job here. Finally, i would like to say thank you for the beautiful styling of the house, this is evident throughout. In particular, I absolutely loved looking at all the art in the property, particularly the paintings in the living room and next to the kitchen table, I spent a lot of time looking at them. All in all this is a wonderful house for exploring a lovely part of Scotland. Thank you again and I really hope it would be OK to return.

The bungalow was ideal for a three generational family group plus dog.

It was very spacious with a safe wrap around garden. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking and far more roomy and modern than our own houses! One or two little niggles: no spare toilet rolls, very few dishwasher tablets and no washing powder at all. Not always supplied I know, but in such an expensive house...... The other design feature that I found strange was the overhead lighting in the master bedroom. No real bedside lights for late night readers. We went and bought a light to plug in! Otherwise, despite minor quibbles, the house was very comfortable and supplied all our needs. The village shop provided all our food needs, the area is well worth exploring and the history of the wartime Russian fleet in the Loch fascinating. Some beautiful beaches nearby, serious mountains for the mountaineer and tracks for cyclists. Large scale maps are useful for exploring. Not far to Poolewe and Gairloch for more eateries and shops and the Inverewe Gardens. We were very lucky with glorious weather and NO midges!!

The cottage was clean, comfortable and well equipped.

There are some lovely beaches to explore in the area although the beach at Aultbea is very stony. We were lucky to have two good cafes in the area The Perfume Place and Ora ha Mara also North by Northwest in Poolewe for occasional lunches but sadly the two local hotels had closed down so if we wanted to dine out in the evening it was a 24mile round trip and most hotels/restaurants were heavily booked, we only managed one evening meal out and that was a disappointment. The local shop in Aultbea is really well stocked however so we certainly didn’t starve. Sadly whilst the rest of the UK was basking in a rare September heatwave it unfortunately didn’t reach us but as we were a party of six friends who hadn’t met up for about six years we didn’t let that dampen our spirits. It’s such a pity that we weren’t there just a week later as I believe the Aurora Borealis gave a spectacular display in the area, that would really have made our holiday special.
