What our customers say about their holidays

We had a roof over our head and a flushing toilet The property was damp and smelled damp. Bedding and towels and toilet paper were damp and clothes were too by the time we left. There was 1/3 of a loo roll and no hand soap in the bathroom and no spares. There was no hot water or heating when we arrived and the door to access the property was round the back (not using the front door) so we had difficulty accessing with a pram. We rang the emergency contact line twice and were sent to voicemail. Someone only got back to us at 0230am with a text asking if we got in ok. 5.5hrs later! No one contacted us about the hot water or heating until the morning when I again emailed. We were promised a maintenance engineer that didn’t show up. The stairs were very steep and back access narrow and gravelly, not suitable for a newborn and whilst advertised as being a short walk to high street and beach nothing was mentioned about the very steep hill and stairs which were difficult to navigate with a pram. The kitchen utensils, table and cutlery were not clean either. The instructions did not detail information about the boiler which was switched off and the plug was in another room which we found by chance the next day so we managed to have hot water on the second day. The waste instructions said to use a blue bin for recycling ( wasn’t one) and to use the bins outside for general waste (very unclear which bin) and the access instructions had a picture of the front door with no information about the keys being for the back door accessed by a shared gate between the properties. All in all a pretty shocking stay and we felt we’d have had a more comfortable experience paying £25 for a campsite pitch rather than £400 for this which was an option for the festival we were going to. So disappointed and feeling ripped off.

Fantastic views from the cottage, sitting on the sofa in the living room you can look through the glass in the door and see a beautifully framed view of Hythe.
Having a shower, again, looking over Hythe. What a wonderful way to start the day. The cottage was spotless and has absolutely everything and more that you can think of for a great stay. A lovely welcome pack with a packet of biscuits, milk and bottle of wine was a lovely touch. The cottage is dog friendly and there are loads of places to go with the dog nearby. The cottage is situated in a perfect location for getting to Folkestone, Dymchurch and Dungeness. We caught the bus easily to Folkestone for the day and went on the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway to Dungeness, again all dog friendly. The Steam train is absolutely amazing, definitely worth a trip and our dog loved it too. Brockhill Country Park is closeby and a lovely place to walk the dog and there is a little cafe there too. St Leonards Church is opposite the cottage and there is an Ossuary (Crypt) which is amazing to see and again we were allowed to take the dog in with us. We had lovely walks along Military Canal. All this is on the doorstep, I just can't rave enough about this cottage and its location. The bed was comfortable and we have never slept so well, maybe due to climbing lots of hills too lol. Even the dog was tired out by the end of each day. It was a really relaxing and fantastic holiday at the cottage for us all. We would definitely recommend coming here to stay especially if you have a dog and we would definitely love to come back and stay again. Oh, maybe leave a pen by the visitor book, we weren't able to sign the book as we didn't have a pen, sorry. We would have loved to have signed it for you.

The property has been carefully renovated and provides an excellent central base for the area.
The downstairs is lovely, cosy and comfortable; though due to lack of worksurface the kitchen is not too great for proper cooking - Hythe has masses of good food options but for health reasons we can't use these. The upstairs is also rather well done. And the shower room practical. The whole place is set up for tall people and we struggled to reach cupboards, hanging rails etc. Overall the cottage is very nice and the views spectacular. The description of the cottage is clear about the steep steps to access the property and to the garden - they mean this! If you have mobility issues you will struggle. The garden is terraced with a gate to a public footpath. And though fully enclosed it is not secure as our dog demonstrated.I There is plenty of parking but also plenty of competition for it, this can be interesting for loading. We enjoyed lovely walks along the canal (bar the odour of cannabis), the local swimming pool is a well maintained snapshot of retro seaside and the local independent coffee shops (Mit Milch particularly) and "weigh and save" are great. Just watch out for the speeding mobility scooters on the high street.

Kits Cottage is a fantastic place in all respects.
Very well equipped, cleaned to the highest standards with plenty of cleaning materials left as well. Excellent communication before the holiday meant we knew exactly what we were doing. The cottage has been refurbished quite brilliantly, combining the character and charm of a 200 year old cottage with modern facilities, bathroom and kitchen were both excellent. The book of photos of the refurbishment was also very interesting for the story it told. The cottage is very bright and airy, the back garden very dog friendly which was much appreciated. However it is the front garden and table that is completely breast-taking!! The views across the old church to the sea will be long remembered and as we were lucky with the weather we had several meals and also coffees at the table. I would return to this cottage just for those views! An easy access walk into town, which is delightful, the delights of the Military Canal, the lovely seafront all make this place a must for anyone that likes a decent walk. Easy access too for lots of attractions, Folkestone, Dover, Rye all within an easy journey. Would thoroughly recommend a stay at Kits Cottage.

Sorry, we hear you - und das wars. Keinerlei Hilfe oder Antwort oder gar Kompensation
