  We were delighted with our stay at Byrn Howell Stables.

  The cottage was warm, welcoming and very comfortable. The views amazing from all the windows upstairs and down. The garden space which looked out onto the view was great. The bonus for us was that when the owner came the next morning, not only to make sure we could work all the appliances etc., but he also welcomed my grandkids to use the field at the bottom of our garden to run around in. (We could keep our eye on them from inside the cottage.) He also told us that we could walk in their woods, play in their stream, and pick as many apples as we wanted from their orchard. (October 2022) We were a stone's throw from the canal and enjoyed many walks from the accommodation. A short drive away was 'Dinas Bran' (a view we could see from the cottage which the owner told us about) with its spectacular panoramic views. We had a delightful scramble from the roadside up to the ruins of the castle at the top. (About 20 mins, ages ranging from 5 to 66.) The lovely little town of Llangollen is about 3 miles away with its array of little gift shops and also an Aldi for the groceries. Midweek, we also had a fantastic day at Zipworld, Betws-y-Coed, an hour's drive away. (Expensive but well worth the joy it put on all our faces.) Everything that made for an excellent holiday for our mixed age group was found here. I liked the idea of the maintenance book which allowed us to write a small issue that could then be sorted for the next occupants. It's clearly stated by the owners in the paperwork how to get to the cottage, however, we found that a little bit challenging because we didn't remind ourselves of the info provided. (I saw it 6 months prior when I booked but forgot to revisit.) As a suggestion, I think it would be VERY helpful for the owners to remind folks of those details when ringing to find out about the key pick-up, as the satnav does NOT lead directly to the cottage. I just hope my (genuine) praise for Bryn Howell Stables, wouldn't mean I'd have to book two years in advance to get a booking confirmed in the future or that it puts the price through the roof? :-) I'd have no hesitation in returning or recommending it to others.   The tranquility of the cottage is wonderful.

  Sitting outside watching the sunset drop into the hills whilst listening to the evening birdsong is a dream. A bench would have been the perfect spot from which to toast the amazing view at any time of day. Inside is equally beautiful, comfortable furnishings, beds with luxury bedding and all the amenities needed whilst on holiday. The very welcome addition of log provision for the full extent of our stay was indeed included in our rent! For us that was the first of our several Sykes Cottages stays to actually fulfil their claim of ‘fuel included’, so many only provide a ‘Starter Pack’ which doesn’t even last one evening! Then there’s the log buying expedition. We three adults and my elderly dog spent very comfortable evenings in the warmth of the log fire, not least because the laminated printed instructions for the fire were well written and accurate. During the day a two mile walk along the town path to the Pontcysylite Aqueduct before breakfast suited one of us, another preferred the couple of tow path miles in the other direction to Llangollen as an afternoon walk. Me? Happy to dog sit, read, and encourage old man Border Terrier to stretch his legs as far as the tow path a mere few metres away! The Stables gave me the much needed calming down period following a bereavement. It was perfect to have my friends visit and look after me whilst my batteries recharged as well as the cottage being in the perfect spot to venture out and explore as and when we wished. Help from the very kind owners who live nearby was quickly organised when I stupidly managed to lock myself out in my pajamas without the keys or phone! One confused dog was left wondering how he was going to get his breakfast! I can thoroughly recommend Bryn Howell Stables to those who would appreciate its feeling of being a luxury sanctuary in the beauty of North Wales.

  We stayed in this property from Monday-Friday.

  The accommodation is in a great location with scenic views and a short distance to the local town and supermarket. The property was well equipped, clean and comfortable, however there are some areas in which improvements could be made. * the element of the grill is not working * unpleasant damp odour in the downstairs bathroom * drainage issues, resulting in the shower tray not draining quickly enough * Handles on sauce pans need fixing (no screwdriver available to do this) * more games would have been welcome, 3 board games available, however “operation” did not work as had no batteries, “frustration” game broken, “pictionary” parts missing. * slats on the bottom bunk kept slipping out. * parking was tricky, our party had 2 cars and there are limited parking spaces (2x per property) a van parked in one of our spaces throughout the duration of the stay. * could not locate a mop bucket, or a floor mat for the shower overflow. Despite the above recommendations of areas to be addressed, we had a lovely comfortable stay and would recommend this property and return to this property for future breaks in this area. Thankyou

  Lovely cottage in great location - 5 mins from Llangollen high street/town centre.

  Has everything you need in well equipped kitchen with tea/coffee/biscuits and hand wash/dishwasher tab/and basic condiments. Recycling bins outside too. TV has good variety of channels. Bedrooms and furnishings decorated to high standard and extremely comfortable. Bathrooms and showers and en-suite fab. Only gripe would be none of the fans/extractors seemed to work in bathrooms - which would be easy to fix. Beware of the well marked drop/step in hallway. Want to stress what a lovely, hospitable place it was and we had a very comfortable short stay there. They have obviously spent a lot of money on high quality decor/furnishings. Highly recommend. Was only 10 minute walk to music event by the river. Be sure to visit the Corn Mill pub/restaurant which has a great menu and you can watch the canoeists take on the rapids! Slept very well - hard to get our 18 and 20 year olds up as bedrooms so comfy. Very close to Aldi and home bargains for quick shop. Parking to side of the cottage is good. Key instructions easy to follow for check in/check out. Thanks for a great relaxing stay!

  Really lovely cottage with excellent facilities.

  Had a lovely long weekend and the location was great as our 4 teenagers were able to go over to the park and down to the river to entertain themselves, with a short pleasant walk into the town. The Wi-Fi was not working when we arrived, red light on the router box and asking for admin approval when we tried to connect. With no phone signal in the cottage it did mean that to look for places to go we had to go and sit in the car or to the park for data. This of course was a huge inconvenience to the teenagers who had to accept that their “snap scores” were ruined or get fresh air at the park to access their data, and a minor one for us parents, who spent our evenings conversing, playing cards and generally “torturing” the kids with games and family time. We had a lovely time, and whilst some guests might feel the Wi-Fi needs fixing, actually I’m not sure it does.
