What our customers say about their holidays
Ms Fulton - Verified booking
The cottage was in a lovely rural village, but only a short drive from Norwich. There were woods and public footpaths nearby; great for walking dog. There is a large and secluded garden with comfortable garden furniture. The house was thoughtfully decorated and well equipped. The kitchen, bedrooms and bathroom were all clean; unfortunately the sitting room was not. There was filthy black dirt and fluff on the floor in all corners, and cobwebs behind the furniture. It looked as if there had been a quick dust and hoover of the central rug, but the rest of the room had not been cleaned for a considerable time. There was a smell from the mop and pail in the cupboard in the sitting room. We were there for two weeks; in other self catering cottages a change of bedding and linen is usually provided at the end of the first week. This did not happen. There were spare towels, but no spare bed linen. Following our holiday, I contacted Original Cottages on 17th September - I noted the positive aspects of the house as well as the negative. After sending a reminder on 1st October, I finally received an acknowledgement and belated apology on 3rd October, with no note of what action might be taken. I had not intended to include the negative aspects of the house in my review, as, on balance the house had more positive aspects, but given the poor and belated response from this company, I have written a full review.

Lovely old cottage, slightly smaller than expected but big enough for us(3 adults and a dog). Garden was great for the dog although he did escape into the garden on the right through a small gap in the fence behind a tree.We did manage to sit out 2 nights between the showers and it got the sun right up to 6 o'clock. Situated on a quiet road I walked the dog from the cottage every morning approx 3 miles circular. Loads of walks within a short drive which I found on the All trails app.Horsey windmills and dunes walk approx 9km long with loads of seals on the beach at Horsey. There appeared to be shot gun blasts starting from 5am every morning but we later found out that it was something set up to scare the birds from the farmers fields. Main bedroom was fine however the floor does slope and you can feel it while lying in the bed,but it's an old building and just adds to its character. We did have a few ants in the kitchen when we put the dogs food out the first night but it is in the countryside and we just fed him outside after that so no problem. There is Ant spray in the kitchen but we didn't want to use it with the dog about. All in all its a great cottage and we never had to call the hosts for anything. We would highly recommend it

Can't not recommend a stay at Holly Cottage enough! So peaceful, so snug and warm with everything you need. The beds were the ridiculously comfy - so much so I had an afternoon nap on the first day! Easy to use fireplace with kindling and logs available added a lovely hyggeligt ambience. The shower was huge and a joy to use. Great for the dog who was able to sniff around the secure garden. The location is superb - secluded enough to enjoy the quiet and bird song but all of 20 mins easy drive to Norwich City and pootle along the Great Yarmouth (the seaside town of your 90s childhood!) Perfect space for younger children as we left our eldest with family otherwise they would have been in each others faces too much.

Our second visit to this lovely lodge and we've had amazing weather. We borrowed bikes one day and cycled to Aylsham alone the Bure Valley Railway, and then onto Marriot's Way all the way to Reepham (and back!) The hot tub was very welcome that evening. Also visited Felbrigg Hall, Blickling Estate, and the very interesting RAF Radar Museum, which is only an hour walk away. We also recommend the walk in the information folder which you can start from the lodge. More chickens this year and we enjoyed their eggs for breakfast. We are returning home with Norfolk cider and apple juice from Wroxham Barns (a short walk away), and jam and marmalade from Mrs. Marmalade (on the way to Wroxham).

A very comfortable, spacious, quiet and well equipped holiday home.
The interior has been very well furnished and made to feel very homely and the outside patio terrace is a lovely private area overlooking the gardens which we were able to enjoy in the sunshine in October! The location is super with easy access to Norwich city and for us visiting family in Acle & Caister. Sarah (the owner) was very friendly and responsive with a few queries we had. We had a lovely time staying at Brundall House and will certainly be back again.
