The cottage its self is very spacious and bed very comfortable. Loved the fire pit and great for families and dogs . On the downside the Mallard needed a lot of TLC. The furniture was well used and sofa could do with a good clean . Also someone in our group wiped the floor with a cloth and it was filthy. It was ground in old dirt . The oven didn’t work . We looked over past reviews which said the oven hadn’t been working for a while . When we told reception they said maintenance had been in before we arrived and said there wasn’t anything wrong with it . Obviously there must be as previous guest haven’t been able to use it . The water taps ran extremely hot so there was no drinking water . You could not get cold water. This is such a shame as this accommodation could be so nice . Some of us stayed in the hotel which we would stay in again but we would definitely not stay in the lodge .

Location and local amenities really good, hotel staff really helpful and polite, Swan Inn food was really nice although service was a little slow. The Mallard was really comfortable to use for 6 adults, however the oven was broken, hob still worked, but recent reviews also indicated oven was broken so it was a known issue. Hopefully they replace it before the next guests stayed. They did offer to cook food for us, however with the slow service we experienced in the restaurant not sure this would be suitable. We did ask for a restaurant voucher and got our main meals covered in lieu of the broken oven. Staff were understanding of the issue, but it does need replacing. We would stay here again (pending working oven).

Large spacious lodges with all mod cons. Good location and the swan inn nice good, pleasant staff but a bit pricey. Only downside is the lodge needs a good deep clean. Including the front entrance and balcony area. Table needs replaced and better seating provided.
