Overall, a well laid-out property, good for extended family get-togethers. Seems to be getting a bit shabby, though one can’t expect to have kids and dogs etc., and places to remain pristine. Significant problem is the hot water. Boiler thermostat is set far too hot - probably 80 degrees C - this is extremely dangerous for any unsupervised child and needs to be remedied quickly. It has been reported before and is therefore indefensible should a child be scalded. A further consequence is the hot pipes run under the floor and heat the property - not good in a heat wave, impossible to get the place cool. Important to know that there is not a grain of salt, a granule of sugar, nor a drop of oil in the property. There was also zero information e.g. folder of walks etc. Not even info about bins/recycling etc. For the money, one expects a little better. For clarification, the property is not a cottage, it is effectively a mid-terrace/townhouse in a recently built block of four adjoining properties. Advertised as having two parking spaces, in fact a small shared car park. Also, do not expect an electric car charger - there are two parking spaces with charging points at the adjacent hotel, only one outlet was working when I was there. Don’t arrive in your electric car expecting to charge up. (Side note - charging fees were approx. 30% higher than motorway costs). We had an issue with the keys - the back door key supplied didn’t fit our door. It probably fit one of the other properties…meaning some stranger had a key to our property and all that that entails, throughout our stay. All reported to staff on the first night, no action taken during our one week stay, and every time we raised the issues, none of the staff seemed to have heard of them. Final note, the photographs on the website are not of the Owl’s Nest.

The cottage had comfy beds, fluffy towels and lovely toiletries. However, there were loads of things missing or not working. The greatest problem was the water from the hot tap which was scalding and a real worry. A handyman did come immediately to look at it and was astonished at its temperature. He tried to make adjustments but they made no change. I was worried that the children would burn themselves. I am going to write to them detailing all the many problems we encountered.I felt really let down considering the price I had paid.
