Guests say

The Old Chapel in Ulverston is a spacious and well-furnished property, appreciated for its good location and quality furnishings. Guests enjoyed the local wildlife and nearby pubs, though some noted issues with cleanliness and maintenance. The dangerous road junction and bin collection confusion were concerns, but overall, the property provided a comfortable stay for families and groups.

Guests mentioned that the property could have been cleaner, with reports of cobwebs, dust, and marks in the bathrooms. However, these issues seem to be minor and did not significantly detract from the overall experience.

The property is well-located near attractions and local pubs, with the added charm of Highland Cattle nearby. However, the dangerous road junction was a notable concern for safety when exiting the property.

The accommodation was praised for its comfort, with quality furnishings and ample space for guests. The extra fridge and ground floor toilet were appreciated, although the mezzanine bedroom's lack of privacy was a slight drawback.

The Old Chapel is equipped with necessary facilities, including a useful extra fridge. Some guests suggested improvements, such as a better-equipped oven and clearer bin instructions. The slow-draining shower was a minor issue.

While guests mentioned the lack of a welcome pack, there was no consistent reference to gifts or additional thoughtful touches provided by the host. Therefore, it is not possible to score this category.

The Old Chapel is an absolutely stunning property with plenty of room for a family gathering. Every bedroom has an ensuite with high quality finishes. The open plan lounge, kitchen diner is perfect for the family to gather and play games/ eat/ chat. There is ample parking and a lovely enclosed garden/patio area. The views from all around the property are amazing and there are even Highland cows in the field next door. There are walking paths directly from the property and a pub across the road. Ulverston, pubs, shops and restaurants are all a short drive away. We didn't want to leave!

We stayed in August, the location is very good, just South of Coniston.Enough on-site parking for 3 cars comfortably, but getting out onto the road from the small lane the Chapel is on is in my view very dangerous, there’s a 40 MPH speed limit on the main road where you have to pull out but people fly past a lot faster than that. There’s a small mirror on the other side of the road but it is next to useless as it’s very hard to see traffic and it is not aligned with the road correctly. The accommodation is lovely, everything you need is supplied. At the end of the stay we put the bins out as requested, nice and early (the day before collection) and in the correct spot, but nobody came to collect the bins the next day!Read previous reviews where owner was blaming people for not putting bins out correctly but it’s not the guests fault as we found out ourselves. Other than that I would recommend staying here, it’s perfect.

What an amazing property. We travelled for a 3 night stay with family of 6 adults & 2 children. The space is perfect for a family get-together. The Highland Cattle in the field next door was a bonus, & waking in the morning to hear them mooing to each other was lovely. Now for constructive points! The Old chapel is fairly well equipped but we felt the cleaning could have been more thorough. Lots of cobwebs & dust around. The bathrooms have black marks on the silicon & the shower in the mezzanine bedroom drained so slowly I had to stop the shower a couple of times while washing my hair to prevent a flood! The information provided was sparse & confusing. 3 different references to the bins, which are collected by a private company who will not empty if untagged rubbish is present. One reference stated recycling is collected according to the chart (no chart found) and a second saying no recycling is collected. When we arrived there was grass cuttings in one bin & untagged rubbish in the other. We were asked to recycle at Booths Supermarket in Ulverston. When we tried we were told the bins were moved 2 years ago! A Welcome Pack with, at least, milk would be good. We arrived late with no shops nearby & had a small amount with us only. Most properties we've visited have left milk & bottle of wineDespite these points we enjoyed our stay
