We enjoyed a lovely, relaxing stay in Belle Vue House. The house is beautiful and very homely with comfortable beds and a well-equipped kitchen. The countryside is stunning and there are lovely views from the house. There is a pub on the edge of the village that is a 10-15-minute uphill walk away that serves great, reasonably priced food. We also enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the cafe at Eggleston Hall which is very close to the cottage. There are shops and more cafes in Barnard Castle which is a 10-minute drive away.

Lovely cottage in a good location. Well equipped and space for everyone; I loved the little conservatory for my morning cuppa. Plenty of walks for the dog. You do, realistically, need transport for shopping and sightseeing. Looked at bus times, between half and one hour to get to nearest town. We managed to get a 7 seater on to the drive. Owner gives lots of useful information in the folder. Earlier checkout was not a major problem.
