We could have got off to a far better start if the power had been switched on at the consumer unit and the central heating working. It was as cold inside as it was outside. Yes really! This being the 23rd December 2025 when cold conditions prevailed. After we switched the power and heating on the cottage was acceptably warm by evening, except the lounge radiator only became slightly aired. The step in the kitchen is dangerous, positioning a chair in front of the dishwasher served to remind of the hazard. We contacted the named caretaker on arrival to address the issues and he informed us he was no longer the caretaker but did come out to try to help.

All was very good save, as mentioned in other reviews, the bathroom is small and the radiator in the living room does not work properly. The Teesdale hotel is only a couple of doors away nd has an excellent menu. Some lovely walks without needing to drive.

We have just had a lovely week at the School House. We have been a few times before and always enjoy the Comfort, Warmth and Cleanliness of the place. It's an excellent location for visiting Teesdale, Weardale and Northumberland. The local amenities are very good and value for money. The School House is private and quiet, a lovely place to unwind. Hopefully we will return next year.
