Wynbec Cottage is highly praised for its spaciousness, modern amenities, and dog-friendly environment. Guests appreciate the high-quality furnishings, enclosed courtyard, and electric car charging. The local cafe and pub are well-regarded, and the property serves as an excellent base for exploring nearby attractions. Some minor maintenance issues are noted, but overall, the cottage offers a comfortable and well-equipped stay.
The cottage is consistently described as spotlessly clean, with only a minor mention of some grouting needing attention. This suggests a high standard of cleanliness throughout the property.
The location is appreciated for its proximity to Durham, Newcastle, and local attractions. The presence of a cafe and pub nearby is a plus, though some guests noted a desire for closer amenities. The property's location is suitable for both relaxation and exploring the region.
Guests find the cottage comfortable, with special mentions of comfy beds and sofas. The spaciousness and modern design contribute to the overall comfort of the property.
The facilities are generally well-regarded, with modern kitchen appliances and TVs in every room. However, there are comments about the shower flooding, stiff windows and doors, and issues with the bi-fold doors and toilets, indicating some areas for improvement.
While guests are pleased with the overall experience, there is no specific mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score for this category.

The village of Quebec has a welcoming community, with a lovely tearoom opposite serving everything from a hearty breakfast to afternoon tea, and an assortment of pubs within a mile all serving good hearty meals. Nearby, the village of Lanchester has a good selection of restaurants, pubs and shops, whilst the villages of Langley Park and Esh Winning have well stocked stores, butcher and bakery.
This is a great spot for walkers and cyclists with many established public footpaths from the village leading into the scenic countryside of County Durham. Close by, is the historic City of Durham, awarded unesco World Heritage Site status, where you can visit the cathedral and castle or enjoy beautiful riverside walks, take a boat out on the river or a leisurely riverboat cruise. The Lumiere Festival takes place every couple of years in November and brings the city to life with live art, music and light shows in the open air theatre that the city becomes.
Visit the fabulous Kynren outdoor spectacle in nearby Bishop Auckland (but do book in advance). A little further afield but still within an easy 30-minute drive, guests will be able to take a day trip out to the popular Beamish Living Museum, see the famous Angel of the North statue in Gateshead, enjoy a day’s shopping at the Metro Centre and explore the vibrant city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Wynbec cottage is superb, it has everything you need for an enjoyable holiday. The finish and furnishing are of a high quality, with an eclectic design taste re decorations! The beds are comfy, the sofa is amazing with its reclining seats, never stayed in a cottage like it for the quality and comfort of furnishing! There is an enclosed courtyard which is lovely just to sit with a cuppa and consider the day! Unfortunately we did have an issue with the shower flooding the downstairs, but the owners are aware and hopefully will be rectifying the situation going forward. There is a lovely cafe directly opposite, had a couple of brekkies in there before our days out! There is a nice pub 1.1 miles away called the Cross Keys Inn, again had a couple of dinners there, good value and portions, the fillet steak just melted in your mouth!Had some great days out, Bowes Museum, Durham, Hadrians Wall, High & Low Force waterfalls, Arnside shopping with a number of out of town shops, M & S, large Sainsburys etc.All in all a fantastic place to stay, would love to return and stay again!!
