Guests are delighted with the cottage's spaciousness, cleanliness, and proximity to the beach, offering a comfortable stay with a well-equipped kitchen and a lovely garden. The views of Bamburgh Castle add to the charm, and the property is praised for being dog-friendly. Some minor maintenance issues are noted, but overall experiences are very positive, with many guests returning and recommending the property.
The property is consistently described as 'super clean', with only a minor mention of dog hairs, which did not significantly impact the overall positive feedback on cleanliness.
The location is highly praised for its proximity to the beach, views of Bamburgh Castle, and the quiet, relaxing environment, making it an ideal base for exploring the local area.
Guests find the property very comfortable, with special mentions of comfortable beds and sofas. The spaciousness and the garden add to the comfort level, although there is a single mention of a door not shutting properly.
The property is well-equipped with kitchen amenities, and recent bathroom updates are appreciated. However, points are deducted for maintenance issues like a problematic key safe, dislodged slate tiles, and a cupboard that doesn't stay open.
Guests mention complimentary cookies and cleaning products, which are appreciated as thoughtful touches. However, it is politely noted that such gifts are not guaranteed and may vary with each stay.
Settled into the beautiful wooden-panelled Armstrong Cottages estate, built by Lord Armstrong for workers who were renovating Bamburgh Castle, Armstrong Cottage No2 is an ideal base for a family looking to explore the wonders of Bamburgh and the Northumberland coast. Park off-road and make yourself at home in a cheerful sitting/dining area where a stone fireplace houses a woodburning effect electric stove stove and adds a sense of history to this homely space. The kitchen houses all of the home-from-home amenities needed to cook up a storm, so you can enjoy dinner with a view across the garden or you can dine alfresco in the enclosed garden at the sitting area provided as your four-legged family members relax on the grass. This charming cottage offers three bedrooms, including master with king size bed and a handy en-suite and two twin bedrooms, ideal for children, as well as a family bathroom where you can enjoy a soak amongst the bubbles in the roll top bath. Bamburgh is a fantastic seaside town where you don’t have to travel far to enjoy a hot meal at one of the local eateries, and there is also the option of trying out local produce at the food deli and emporium. After a heart-warming lunch, head over to the magnificent Bamburgh Castle and enjoy its stunning sea and countryside views, before heading over to the beach to enjoy the sandy shore and salty air. More countryside walks are available along the coastline and sand dunes, and the town also has its own RNLI museum. Further from the property you will find more seaside walks and scenery at Beadnell and Seahouses, or there is the option to visit the well-known Holy Island with its fantastic Lindisfarne Priory, castle, museums and shops. Fall in love with the coast of Northumberland with a stay at Armstrong Cottage No2.
The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.
