Phenests is a well-equipped cottage in Falmouth, Cornwall, with a cosy atmosphere and a sunny garden. Its location is appreciated for proximity to the beach and local attractions. Guests have enjoyed comfortable beds, nice bedding, and a welcome surprise of cream teas on arrival. The property is described as having a homely feel and being a good base for exploring the area.

Several reviews mention issues with cleanliness, including cobwebs, dirty carpets, and unclean kitchenware. However, some guests found the property clean upon arrival. The mixed feedback suggests room for improvement in this area.

The property is praised for its good location, close to the city centre, beaches, and attractions. The convenience of the location is a recurring positive aspect in the reviews.

Guests have found the beds comfortable and the house cosy, although some furniture is reported as worn. The comfort level is generally satisfactory, but there are suggestions for updates.

Facilities are well-received for being comprehensive, but maintenance issues like non-working thermostats, a tight shower space, and cluttered cupboards are noted. The property is equipped but requires attention to maintenance.

Guests have mentioned thoughtful touches like cream teas on arrival and sufficient towels. While these gestures are appreciated, it is important to note that such amenities may vary and are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Swanpool Beach is 800 meters away and the resort attractions are a few minutes’ drive. This semi-detached house offers welcoming, comfortable home-from-home accommodation, with ample off-street parking, front garden and a pretty enclosed rear garden. The first floor hosts three bedrooms; all beds have sleep-inducing mattress-toppers for additional comfort, plus the family shower room.

The garden is attractive with decking, bench and alfresco table and chairs, a lovely sunspot for morning coffee and evening tipples with paved area and steps leading up to the slightly raised lawn, a haven for little ones and dogs to play. Falmouth resort boasts big harbour with stunning views across to Flushing and St Mawes. Four glorious beaches, The National Maritime Museum, galleries, inns and restaurants, with oceanside cafes and boats and boards for hire will keep you entertained. Take a sea fishing excursion or explore the hidden creeks by kayak. Closer to home, just a 2 minute walk away is Falmouth golf course where you can Pitch & Putt, or play a full round of golf.

Pendennis Castle, built by Henry viii, is Falmouth's most popular attraction, sited on its own peninsula with panoramic sea views. Across from Falmouth harbour is the town of St Mawes, surrounded by the rocky coves, sandy beaches and lush green countryside of the Roseland Peninsula. Go there by car (15 miles) or take the passenger ferry from Falmouth (15 minutes). Sunny rear garden and patio to enjoy when the sun shines but cosy warm house when the sun doesn't show.

Additionally the house was filthy and smelt appalling.Nothing had been hoovered the stair carpet in particular looks like it's never seen a hoover. The smell turned out to be all the downstairs hard floors had been mopped using a filthy mop that smelt of stale urine and has long seen better days. There we're filthy crockery in cupboards and as for the cutlery what can I say truly horrendous..u Upstairs was no better the bathroom has toilet seat that doesn't stay up or even fit and the grouting on the floor is filthy the sink doesn't hold any water.in the bedrooms things are no better very old poor quality mattresses in each room covered by toppers that don't fit.also why would you put double bed size bedding on king size bed? On our first night we went out and bought replacement bedding crockery and cutlery.Additionally the thermostats on most of the radiators don't work so you either cooked or froze the heating in the front bedroom room does not work at all.The blind in the twin room is broken Outside the garden is not dog proof with fencing being down in several places You also have to put out other people's rubbish which considering there is only one small bin is unpleasant Overall if I could leave zero stars I would. It appears as long as it's being booked the owners don't care about guests holidays or even there own property. All this points have been left by previous guests either in visitor book or online so please please do something about it before you ruin more people's holidays.please note that we booked this in 2019 and then had to change because COVID lock downs etc so at time booking we're unaware of poor previous reviews
