About this property

Tenbury Wells 5.9 miles. Rock Cottage is a blissful and relaxing rural retreat, nestled in the charming town of Hatfield near Tenbury Wells, with immediate access to views, walks and rides across breathtaking countryside, no noise or light pollution, so skies are full of stars at night. This is a cottage for all seasons, with views of lambs & blossom in the next door orchard in spring, hazy sunny rolling green fields & trees in summer, before harvest and ploughing of red soil & autumn leaves by October. After parking up, take the weight off your feet in the homely sitting area, complete with woodburning stove where you and your loved ones can curl up on cooler evenings and delight in some light entertainment on the TV; allow the designated chef of the group to get to grips with a suitable range of appliances in the kitchen, sure to ease your self-catered stay, before settling down at the dining table. If you prefer to bask in your surroundings a little longer, venture out into the enclosed garden to saviour an alfresco affair in amongst your tranquil surroundings, planning your itinerary for the days ahead until the stars appear. When sleep calls, freshen up with a long soak or warm shower in the ground-floor bathroom before retreating to either a super-king-size or twin bedroom to rest your head. When you fancy eating out, head to the Michelin starred restaurant Pensons, just a short drive away. In the morning, head to the market town of Leominster, where you can tour Leominster Museum, take a stroll along the River Lugg or indulge dinner and drinks at one of several fantastic pubs and restaurants on the days you don’t feel like cooking! Close by, admire the historic National Trust sites of Berrington Hall and Croft Castle and Parkland or head to Tenbury Wells where you’ll find your nearest conveniences, in addition to the historic Round Market, a charming array of Georgian buildings and medieval bridge crossing the River Teme. Head to the market town of Ludlow and take a tour of the iconic Castle and its ruins, enjoy leisurely strolls along the River Teme or head north for treks through Rectory Wood. Well-positioned to also explore Hereford, home to the Black and White House Museum, Waterworks Museum and Hereford Cathedral, you’ll have plenty to fill your days. For your next getaway in Herefordshire, book a stay at Rock Cottage.

On the banks of the River Teme in Worcestershire is the lovely, historic town of Tenbury Wells. Tenbury Wells, which dates to the Iron Age and is rumoured to have been Queen Victoria's "little town in the orchard," is home to a remarkable 18th-century bridge constructed by Thomas Telford, the magnificent Pump Rooms, which housed baths where local mineral water was available, and numerous other 17th-century listed structures. In addition to hosting numerous festivals throughout the year, including Applefest in October and Holly and Mistletoe around Christmas, this vibrant town features a large number of unique shops, old-fashioned pubs, cafes, and tea rooms. Weekly farmers' and craft markets are held there, and an Art Deco movie theatre with a full calendar of activities is entirely restored. One of the most picturesque towns in Britain is Ludlow, which boasts a famous castle. It has a mediaeval street layout that is almost completely intact and provides an excellent setting for the town's frequent markets. Ludlow, which is renowned for its shopping, also boasts superb restaurants, tea shops, and pubs. Church Stretton, also referred to as Little Switzerland, the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site, Leominster, Hereford, and Shrewsbury, as well as the Severn Valley Railway, Berrington Hall, and Hay-on-Wye, well-known for its annual Literary Festival in May/June, are also easily accessible. Offa's Dyke, the Malvern Hills, and the Brecon Beacons are a little farther away. An excellent starting point for local exploration is this.

Peaceful and tranquil, in the most beautiful setting. Everything was as described. The owners and neighbours could not do enough for us. Ideally based for walking and visiting, so many beautiful places of interest. Or just sit in the sun room, relax and take in the views. It was warm and comfortable. Thank you so much. Would definitely recommend and return.

Nice and snug with log burner going but the cottage does have its quirks, 4G signal can be a bit hit & miss + had at least 3 nights when TV signal was very poor and unable to watch a lot of channels on TV. Also compared to other properties visited over the years did find the information provided about the local area & amenities a little lacking.

Switches for working boilers, lights in conservatory confusing, etc. Didn't have the key code, had to get hold of owner, waiting 20 minutes for response, before we could enter the cottage, an email with details was received 2 days later from the owner. Otherwise a lovely spot in the country.
