Tucked away in a quiet mews, yet just a stone’s throw from the popular village centre in Askrigg, sits this lovely mews style cottage. Lovingly restored to a good standard, it offers comfortable and spacious accommodation perfect for a couple or small group to enjoy a getaway in beautiful Wensleydale.
Step through the front door into a large entrance porch, with an old school bench and a wall mounted Ordnance Survey map, great for finding your bearings and plotting walking routes. The cottage is decorated in subtle grey colours, along with a selection of artwork and tasteful soft furnishings. A spacious living room with two comfy sofas invites you to curl up around the cosy multi-fuel burner, while the Shaker-style kitchen is a dream to cook in with all modern appliances and kitchen accessories.
Upstairs are two beautifully furnished bedrooms enjoying views across the Dales to Addleborough. There is also a family bathroom. Outside is a paved patio with garden furniture and a parking area.
The village has a well-stocked shop and a delicatessen where you can order a picnic to take with you on your travels. The three pubs in the village all provide local ales and homely fayre. There are plentiful walks along the banks of the nearby River Ure and the Askrigg Waterfalls Walk, which takes in both Whitfield Force and Mill Gill Force. For the more adventurous, try a climb up the hill of Addleborough across the dale. The Yorkshire Dales offer spectacular scenery and an abundance of walks of all ability levels to explore.
The historic town of Richmond, famed for its castle, Georgian theatre, riverside walks and abundance of independent shops and tea rooms, is around a 30-minute drive. The Forbidden Corner in Middleham, a quirky venue with its labyrinth of caves, folly and underground caverns is 13 miles away, and is hugely popular with families. Picturesque Aysgarth Falls and Castle Bolton are nearby and the market towns of Leyburn and Hawes are a short drive away. Fishing can be found nearby. Shop 200 yards, pub and restaurant 25 yards.

We spent a wonderful week in this lovely cottage in February 2026 which had everything we needed, it really felt like a home from home. It is very well equipped if you want to do your own cooking but if not we highly recommend the Kings Arms and the Middle House which are close by (we didn't make it to the Crown). The pictures are a little misleading and the rooms are bigger than they appear, there is also ample parking space for a large family car. It is ideal for a family with 2 children or two couples, and dogs are welcome. The village shop (Sykes) is well stocked for basics and the Bake-Well tea shop has an array of savoury pastries, sandwiches and homemade cakes (carrot cake was our favourite). There are lots of lovely walks from the doorstep, we walked to Aysgarth falls but it is about 2-3 hours each way depending on the route. If you get there the Mill Race Teashop is ideal for a light lunch or tea and cakes. Hawes and the Wensleydale Creamery are worth a visit and Hammonds in Bainbridge is excellent if you want a good butcher. Both were closed for this trip but from previous holidays we would also recommend a visit to Bolton Castle and in particular the wonderful Hidden Corner.
