The town of Malton has quaint cobbled streets and historic buildings and is known as Yorkshire’s food capital. Further afield, Pickering (10 miles) is the starting point for the North York Moors Railway – well-behaved dogs are welcome and at Grosmont station, the heritage railway connects to the Esk Valley Line so you can journey onwards to Whitby. Alternatively, the Edwardian resort of Filey and lively Scarborough are both a 25-mile drive away, and historic York is 19 miles away.
