Guests say

Castleton House in Staithes is a well-loved historic fisherman's cottage, praised for its comfort, stunning sea views, and central location. Guests appreciate the cosy atmosphere with a log fire, the convenience of a parking permit, and the proximity to good pubs and the beach. The detailed history provided about the house and village adds to the charm of the stay.

There is no specific mention of cleanliness in the reviews, so it is not possible to provide a score for this category.

The location is highly praised for its stunning views, proximity to the sea, local pubs, and the historic village setting. However, the mention of the village being hilly and potentially challenging for those with mobility issues slightly affects the score.

Guests find the cottage comfortable, with a cosy log fire and a well-equipped kitchen. The comfort of the beds or seating is not specifically mentioned, but the overall comfort of the house is positively reviewed.

The cottage is well-equipped with a kitchen and a log fire, and guests appreciate the parking permit. However, the absence of a washing machine is noted, which suggests room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.

While guests appreciate the detailed history and the cupboard of beach equipment, there is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches that are guaranteed, so it is not possible to provide a score for thoughtfulness.

We had a fantastic week at Castleton House. It was our first time stay in Staithes and we enjoyed the setting of the house and the village itself. The view from the upstairs window was wonderful and a great place to have a coffee and watch the sea at any time of day.The house is comfy and we had a fire most nights. The storage heaters do a good job but you need the fire for the evenings in cold weather. The phone call from the owners before we went gave us all the info we needed about arriving, unpacking and where to park etc. The parking permit is a great thing for the car park at the top. Loved the history file about the house and village.

Lovely old fisherman’s cottage, with views overlooking the bay from the top floor. We found the cottage and local area to be dog friendly.

Great location, in a very nice historic village with a couple of good pubs only a minute walk away. Be careful about the car parks as one day we parked in the wrong park and got a £60 fine.
