In a peaceful location just a mile from the delightful village of Edzell, this cosy, Grade C listed, detached gate lodge offers a haven of relaxation. Originally a gatehouse for Dunlappie House, the property has been very comfortably furnished and equipped with a cosy wood burner. With sunny aspects in the living room and bedroom, Dunlappie Lodge is a great choice for couples and small families. There are many good walks in the area, ideal for wildlife lovers, such as at Glen Prosen, Clova, Glen Isla and Glen Esk. Visit the Caterthuns, two Iron Age forts nearby, or take a look around the Edzell’s selection of shops, tearooms and parks.
There is a very good golf course just half a mile from the house, with numerous others within easy reach. To the north lie the magnificent Angus Glens leading deep into the Cairngorms, which has fantastic walking, climbing and mountain biking throughout the national park. 15 miles to the east are the picturesque fishing villages, cliffs and excellent beaches at St Cyrus, Lunan Bay and Montrose. Alternatively, take the Victorian Heritage Trail through Royal Deeside to Braemar via the scenic Cairn o’ Mount Road, which offers panoramic views over the Howe o’ the Mearns and the Vale of Strathmore. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Beautiful cosy , comfortable lodge with all the amenities required for a self catering accommodation. Edzell is a lovely village, situated a couple of miles along the road from the accommodation,with a great cafe and a pub ( very good food at both). Good beaches near by at Montrose & an interesting abbey at Arbroath, both well worth a visit.The owner's of the lodge were very friendly and informative & made the stay a great one. Hope to return again one day soon.

A lovely little getaway, quiet and rural. Lots to do in surrounding areas - a short drive (or walk) to village amenities - towns, beaches and edge of Cairngorms all within reach, or just cosy-up by the log fire and relax. Host attentive and accommodation really quaint but comfortable. Perfect for me and my dog. Delightful.

Comfortable cottage in a peaceful location. Situated a mile or so out of Edzell, with shops and eateries. Convenient for exploring the area. The only downsides were no wi-fi (but 4G reception good) and the night-storage heating, which is quite old and tricky to adjust when you are not used to it.
