The Nook at Balcary is a beautiful detached cottage with a modern open plan living area boasting floor to ceiling windows and sliding doors opening on to the most fantastic views of Auchencairn Bay and Hestan Island.
Everything at The Nook at Balcary is perfect from the moment you step inside. Not only will the view amaze you, but the attention to detail throughout is stunning from the comfortable sofas, the large walk-in shower to the sumptuous bed. On fine nights, sit outside in the most peaceful of locations watching the stars and enjoying the sound of the sea. The perfect place to relax.
The area surrounding The Nook at Balcary is just as impressive. From your doorstep take a walk over the cliffs, or a short drive will take you to many lovely little towns and villages including Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbright, Kippford and Rockcliffe to name but a few.
This corner of south west Scotland, warmed by the Gulf Stream, also has many beautiful gardens to visit, including Threave Gardens (National Trust). Close to the Galloway Forest Park, the first Dark Sky Park in the UK, and central to 5 of the 7Stanes, it is a popular location for cyclists and mountain bikers. Beach 50 yards. Shop 2 miles, hotel bar and restaurant next door.

We enjoyed a lovely ‘away from it all’ week at the Nook. We were on the beach with the dog twice a day and the views from our little garden were stunning!We were particularly pleased with the ‘paws and boots’ tap/shower head outside. The warm water was ideal for hosing down our sandy dog after each visit to the beach.There are some lovely walks nearby and plenty of places to visit within a 30 minute drive. The welcome pack was wonderful with fresh baked bread, a selection of teas amd coffee, homemade jam plus a pint of milk in the fridge. We would definitely come again. Thankyou

The Nook is 5 mins by car to the local village with its community shop. Great bakery items and you can stop for coffee. The cottage has a great view to Heston island and the Solway firth. I could have sat every day watching the tides and boats and birdlife. Lots of great walks from the cottage that our little dog loved. The cottage itself was clean and had everything you need for an enjoyable week. The welcome pack was perfect, bread, milk, biscuits, jams, tea, coffee and sugar. The bed was very comfortable. The shower hot. Only downside was WiFi when we arrived but it resolved itself when the wind calmed down!It’s a home from home.

The Nook is a perfectly placed property for superb views of Heston Island and the Solway Firth with good walks directly from the property.
