This traditional cottage sits on the banks of the River Dee. Meall Darroch looks pretty as a picture and has the welcoming warmth of an open fire. The holiday cottage has been fully modernised, carefully furnished and fitted with numerous labour saving appliances to make your stay totally relaxing. In this idyllic location there is freedom and space amongst moorland, heather and mountains - great walking country with real challenges for climbers. Yet this spectacular area is close to the tourist route - Braemar famous for the celebrated Highland Gathering and the breathtaking Linn of Dee. Shop and pub 4 miles.

A great place to stay if you enjoy nature and the outdoors. It is a warm and comfortable, no frills cottage. Logs are included and the caretaker is very helpful if you need anything. You can walk or cycle right from the door. Not far from the centre of Braemar by car, which has a corner shop, butchers, pub, cafe and takeaway chippy. Sometimes there is snow in April and in October the trees are stunning. Herds of deer pass by often especially during rutting season. A relaxing, happy place.

A very enjoyable stay at an excellent venue in super countryside. Caretaker Ian Foster was both friendly and helpful as well as providing a well presented cottage. Hope to visit again in future.

The cottage is in a wonderful location on the Mar estate, many walks around the estate on the doorstep. Lovely view from the cottage and very quiet.Comfy beds, good heating and cosy fire. Amenities are basic and dated, some of the crockery needs replacing, however you have everything you need and make yourself comfortable.
