Ideal for couples who are looking for somewhere to relax and enjoy Harris’s beautiful landscape, built to fully appreciate views looking out on to the Loch, Jayne Cottage is the perfect bolthole to explore this magnificent Island. As you enter, you’ll find the open plan living/ kitchen dining area, with a floor to ceiling window offering ample natural light, and space to relax after a busy day exploring. The kitchen comes fully equipped complete with integrated appliances including a dishwasher. There is something truly captivating about the setting of this property. Guests will find themselves mesmerised by the views looking out to the front, and with plenty reason to; the views over the Loch will immediately help you to relax, enjoy the serenity, and put the stresses of the modern life behind you.
Tarbert, just a few minutes’ drive from the cottage, boasts a distillery and two hotels, all with cafés/restaurants. There are also several takeaways in Tarbert along with a bank, doctors’ surgery, post office, petrol station, two groceries and a Harris tweed shop; this is also the arrival point for the ferry from Uig. The Isle of Harris boasts some of the most outstanding scenery on the Western Isles, combined with some of the world’s most outstanding beaches to enjoy. There are many excellent walking routes and the quiet country roads are ideal for cyclists. There is also a large selection of activities available – whatever your preferred outdoor pursuit may be including golf, pony trekking, wild swimming and kayaking to name but a few. The Isle of Harris, famous for its Harris tweed, shares the Isle with Lewis to the North. The thriving fishing town of Stornoway offers plenty of shops/cafés and restaurants, and Lewis Castle in the centre is worth a walk around to enjoy the beautiful woodlands. Other activities guests can enjoy include fishing, boat trips and kite surfing, with the Isle of Harris distillery also being a favourite amongst tourists for its famous gin.

Lovely location, absolutely fantastic view and we both sat for hours in the sunroom area watching the seals and admiring the view. There was building work at a cottage beside us but it has to be done and certainly didn't spoil our holiday at all. The cottage was extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The microwave/oven did not work but Jocelyn came straight around and tried her best to resolve but we told her not to worry as we had our own slow cooker and air fryer with us (didn't realise the cottage also had an air fryer). Would definitely book this cottage again.

Cottage was cozy. View from large front window was spectacular, spent hours watching the changing scenery.Perfect for a couple for a quiet getaway. Would recommend 👌 Only one small thing would make it better would be some kind of enclosed area outside so you're not quite so exposed and would be good for our 4 legged friends.

The cottage has a fabulous view over the bay, and was very comfortable. There was a good welcome pack, and lots of useful information. The comfortable chairs in the conservatory, and the fabulous view would definitely encourage us to go back, as would the comfortable bed and good overall space for an open plan chalet. The couple looking after the chalet were very responsive to enquiries, and provided very good information prior to arrival.The lack of an oven was a bit challenging for me, though there was a microwave with a convection oven setting and grill, which I did work out how to use (there was a good instruction booklet available). The fridge was quite small, though the fact there was a small freezer was an extra not always available in self catering accommodation. A bigger fridge would have suited us better. Just observations others might find useful, not complaining! We would recommend the cottage to others, and would happily go back.
