Perfect for relaxing after a wonderful day exploring the charming market towns of the borderlands of England and Wales, or walking on the numerous footpaths this lovely area has to offer, Cwm Corn Barn also sits just 4 miles from Newtown. Set on the banks of the River Severn, and boasting a good selection of pubs and restaurants as well as excellent shopping, this historic market town is famous for its arts and music with museums, art galleries and theatre for visitors to enjoy. Close by, the grounds of Gregynog Hall offer year round interest including extensive woodland with waymarked walks and fine trees, rhododendrons and spring bulbs. Gardening enthusiasts and history lovers too will also delight in a visit to Powis Castle, 16 miles, a medieval fortress soaring dramatically above its world famous gardens. Now in the care of the National Trust, the castle houses a superb collection of paintings, sculpture, furniture, tapestries and treasures from India. For keen bird watchers, a trip to the town of Rhayader (20 miles) will be rewarded by the spectacular daily display of the red kite feeding station. Golf, tennis and riding are available nearby. We booked a bit last minute and we were so lucky to find Cwm Corn Barn.We were met by Megan, the lovely owner of this well equipped property and shown around all the important parts.With an enormous well equipped kitchen, two lounge areas each with a TV, this is ideal for keeping the kids occupied whilst adults can relax.This is a quite remote area and wales being wales, many local pubs do not open every day, but it’s not too far into Newtown where there is a bit more choice including an abundance of supermarkets for your shopping..The WiFi is satellite linked so good speed and very useful.Being surrounded by fields, sheep and other wildlife, this is a wonderful place to stay for large groups or even two families.We didn’t venture into the hot tub, this was st the peak of the 2026 heat wave, so needed to cool down not sit in a hot tub, but it liked very clean and welcoming.

Cottage is in a great location with fantastic views, sheep in the fields we nice to watch. Cottage is well equipped with everything you need although some areas of the cottage need some TLC and updating. Really nice welcome from the owner on arrival and explained everything we needed to know. Hot tub is a very nice way to end the day. Local areas of interest are good especially the kite feeding farm.

Great stay, lovely spot, a little TLC needed with upstairs flooring however didn’t stop us having a great time, fun times in the hot tub watching the satellites moving across the sky at night, even the dogs loved it…6 adults 3 children and 2 dogs
