What our customers say about their holidays

This is a charming cottage which could be described as a rural idyll. The area is interesting with little narrow twisting lanes (care needed!) and there are a few good places to eat nearby. It is well-equipped. One or two problems with the equipment were swiftly sorted out by the managers. The narrow stairs might not suit everyone. Our major complaint would be the information book left at the cottage. There are virtually no instructions for any of the equipment which is a big drawback but can easily be addressed by the owners. A lot of the information leaflets need replacing. The arrangements for rubbish collection have changed. Several people have asked, in the visitors book, for a history of the cottage and this would be most interesting. It is tantalising not to have this information. We discovered that it is an old hunting lodge. The beautifully made paving outside the property does indeed contain deerâs teeth! The ruinous structure alongside the road opposite the entrance drive is an old tollhouse. There is a lovely piece of garden and woodland surrounding the cottage with paths for woodland walks. Our misfortune (well, it was January) was the exceedingly wet weather - even the paths were almost unusable, the lawn was soggy and it was difficult to walk our two dogs. However, in clement conditions this area would be a delight. In wet weather, what with the fords, poor road conditions and mud, it would be beneficial to have a 4x4!

We enjoyed our stay in the cottage very much. The garden is maintained to a very high standard while still presenting a natural feel. The mist rising off the water in the mornings looked very magical. If you are looking at the wood from Google Maps be aware not all of it is accessible unless you are willing to scramble up very steep slopes. The location was very quiet in terms of car traffic however I do have to mention we were "buzzed" by trainee helicopter pilots from RAF Shawbury for extended periods which was loud enough to upset the dog and disturb us. There is no mobile phone signal (O2 anyway) on the property unless you have WiFi calling enabled, although a signal did appear when standing by the wheelie bins. On the subject of the bins, they can be accessed via the garden, you do not need to walk down the narrow lane.

The kitchen has everything you could want and is very clean as is the rest of the lodge on the whole.
I did have to ask for the hot tub to be cleaned as it had algae floating in it when we got there and green slime on the sides. After emptying and cleaning it was fine. One of our beds had no sheets so we had to spend first night with an unmade bed. This was quickly resolved when we told them the next day. The furniture is the most uncomfortable ever. The beds aren't comfortable at all and the sofas are impossible to get comfy on. I didn't watch tv in the bedroom as the remote was too grimy to want to touch. The lack of wifi in the lodge was a big problem to us. Anyone needing wifi should avoid this place. There is very little to do in the area which may suit some people but made our week tedious and boring. On the bright side, the ducks are a delight. We bought seed for them and enjoyed feeding them every day.

The check in and out times on your listing (3pm check in) were different to the holiday site ones (4pm), then our check in times were again altered due to the current situation!
This was only brought to our attention the day before we traveled during a call to the holiday site. Also on the listing you stated the lodge had WIFI, you failed to note that it was only in the small reception/café area which has limited access. This was annoying as we had taken items that need WIFI. The holiday site was peaceful and well maintained and we were very happy with the lodge. The on site restaurant served lovely food and would highly recommend a visit. The sofas in the lodge weren't the most comfortable to relax on but everything else was good. would visit again and recommend the holiday site. Had a peaceful relaxing holiday
