What our customers say about their holidays

Just returned from a lovely weekend away for a family members birthday get together.

The granary is exactly as advertised and had everything we needed as a family of 14 and 3 dogs. It was a property that was made for that size party with kids and dogs, a little worn in places but when you are staying somewhere that will accommodate children and pets that completely understandable. The bedrooms were very comfortable and clean and set out well with a wing separating the main living area from the bedrooms with the games room. There were then 2 bedrooms above the dining room/hallway if you wanted some peace for putting young children to bed early (a floorplan to show this would be a great asset). The setting was amazing !! Lots of space (very muddy in the winter) for dog walking and so remote and peaceful. We especially enjoyed the barn owl which flew across the garden many times during our stay. The garden was very secure for kids and dogs (a small gap in the gate that maybe a small dog could squeeze through) but our dogs were even safe at the front while we were loading and unloading as there is no through traffic. The last point I will make is that the property manager, Karen was brilliant. She got in touch a couple of days before the stay with all the information we needed for access etc and her personal number if we needed it and also called and on the morning of the stay to let us know there were diversion signs in the village and how to navigate around them...fantastic !! Many thanks to all involved.

We were a family party of 12, age ranges from 10 to 80.

The bedrooms were versatile enough for all and the games room was a winner with everyone and accommodated our bikes. The estate was wonderful for walking and small villages were well within reach on foot. Farther afield were the Long Mynd and Wenlock Edge which we also visited. The weather was fantastic so that obviously added to the pleasure too. We even had good weather on our barbecue night! The garden was ideal for our two dogs - large and enclosed. Small children would also be totally safe. The kitchen facilities were good and adequate for the number of guests. The sitting room was wonderful but was generally only used in the evening when we took advantage of the gorgeous fire. We loved the dining room which was plain, roomy and stylish. We ate in there every evening. There were some small issues which we communicated to the housekeeper - things like blocked shower heads, loose toilet seats, missing dishwasher wheels and a non too clean oven. We also wondered whether a water jug could have been provided. We were also informed about the state of the approach road which was quite tortuous but apparently it was to be repaired in the very near future. All in all, we thoroughly recommend this property as we know that every member of our party enjoyed their stay there.

We were getting together for a holiday with our children and grandchildren (a party of 12 including small children and teenagers) and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return.

The accommodation had lots of character and there was plenty space to enable differennt activities to happen at the same time without our feeling we were on top of each other. The kitchen was well equipped and spacious so that we were able to cater for large family meals, which we thoroughly enjyed around the impressive dining table, without any problems. Karen, the Property Manager, was very friendly and helpful. We were particularly grateful for her flexibility over our departure time - possible because the house was not booked for the following week. There was an issue with the supply of hot water to the bedroom wing at first but, once this was reported to Karen, it was resolved the same day. An issue with a toilet couldn't be dealt with immediately but with many bathrooms (and the extra toilet in the utility room) this wasn't a big problem. The only other serious issue was the condition of the long driveway/track which was severely potholed so that we needed to drive very slowly and carefully to minimise discomfort and to avoid damage to the car suspension. The uphill climb from the main road, in particular, was heavily eroded by the recent heavy rainfall. It really is in need of some serious maintenance and improvement.

Ten of us had a super 3 nights at Stockbatch Granary in January to celebrate an 80th birthday.

It had everything you need for a large group. The bedrooms were warm with nice bedding and fluffy towels, 2 upstairs in the main block, and 1 upstairs and 4 downstairs through the games room in The East Wing. The games room isn't heated but you soon warm up playing table tennis or table football. The kitchen was extremely well equipped to cater for a large group, and the 2 large fridge/freezers were very useful. The lounge was huge and a bit cool despite the log fire, but the complimentary basket of logs was much appreciated. We think curtains for the several floor to ceiling lounge windows would most likely make it feel warmer. There were a few plumbing issues, e.g. one shower with no hot water and a couple of loos not working, but that didn't detract from our weekend as we had plenty of rooms to use the facilities. The access road is about a mile long and is in a very poor state in several sections, with huge potholes, so great care is needed, but no damage was done to any of our 4 cars. The caretakers were friendly and responded very quickly to all my queries, and said the plumbing issues would be sorted. All in all, we had a fab time and would recommend this property.

We had the most wonderful time at this stunning cottage!

The place is beautifully finished, and has kept its lovely authentic feel. The dog-friendly pub is a mile down the end of lane from the cottage, so a nice easy walk and there is a little shop attached that is like an Aladdins cave. All the locals were really friendly and welcoming. The rear yard where the hot tub is, is fully enclosed so our dogs could be out with us whilst we bathed, and it was very private and not overlooked. I would highly recommend taking wood with you, the shop has it for a good price but they did run out over the weekend. We found some fab walks right from the doorstep , meaning you can stop in the pub for a few drinks after and warm on their lovely fire. The hot tub is fantastic after a day walking, it did take us about 24 hours to get up to temp as it was pretty cold outside, we then just lit the fire in the morning and found it to be the right temperature in the evening. The cottage has great facilities, and everything you could want. We will Definitely be back. Ps. Take some bird seed to feed the stunning birds that you can watch from the windows. Bliss
