The warning is that the cottage is quite cold (besides the bedroom) as little heaters can’t fully warm up the room, but once you start the fire in the fireplace, it’s perfect. Probably the coldness is a bonus is warmer months but we visited in March. The other thing was that there were cobwebs throughout the house, which could be an issue to some. Overall, a great cottage stay at a great location (not touristy), and easy communication with the owner (if there are any issues, message ahead).

Absolutely beautiful cottage for two. Had everything we needed and more. I loved that a good quality shampoo, conditioner and shower gel were all supplied as well a hand soap and cleaning products. The cottage was spotlessly clean. A great nights sleep in the 6’ bed, lots of fluffy towels to use and plenty of storage for clothes. Great walk in shower to. Easy to follow Instructions were given for everything, tv, oven, heating etc. so felt very comfortable from the start. It’s quiet and peaceful and lovely to see the little lambs, but also near lovely places to visit, Tintagel, Boscastle, Newquay beaches, Port Isaac, Wadebridge, Bodmin and the moors. I thoroughly recommend Hettys Cottage, it was a lovely week away.

We loved the quiet setting. It was good to have some outside space as well. The cottage was comfortable. We used our own bedding as we find quilts are too heavy/hot for our comfort. The location is a short stroll to the centre of St Merryn where you can find all the facilities you need. Compact accommodation, but has the basics. We found lack of mobile signal an issue and no wi-fi a problem as we couldn’t research the local area, and as first time visitors to Cornwall this was tricky. There was no welcome pack with details of attractions/beaches/local places of interest and that would have been helpful. Mind your head!! We had more than a few bumps!! Not ideal for tall people.
