What our customers say about their holidays

Yr Hel Felin is a lovely property full of character in a quiet little village but close to bigger villages/towns.
We went during a week of 30+ degree heat and because of the huge thick walls the property was lovely and cool! A nice welcome back was waiting including milk, biscuits and some lovely lemon cakes as well as the tea, coffee, etc in the cupboard. The property also has excellent WiFi throughout which we weren't expecting given its remote nature. Inside the property it's full of original features which make it fascinating. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you could need, good quality pans, trays, roasting tins, cutlery, cups, etc and a good sound system on the ground floor kitchen/dining area. The beds are super comfy with good quality mattresses and good sized bedrooms. The top floor is where the cottage earns it's extra stars! Electric piano, a guitar, a pool table (even a supply of chalk for the queues) and a good sized TV with an outstanding sound system. Many a game of pool were enjoyed (undefeated, just leave that here so it's immortalised) and a film or two at night. The property also comes with loads of board games, jigsaws, DVDs, blue rays, cds and books. Everything you could wish for! Outside the garden pleasantly surprised us with the size. It's not really one you could have a game of football in but the kids loved running up the stairs, over the top, and down the sloped path. Plus, the top of the garden is lovely and shaded by the trees, with excellent views. The picnic table on the patio is a nice touch and allows you to have a nice meal or drink whilst watching the cows! A children's playground, with a full size football net is about a 5 minute walk away, and a couple of minutes further down the road is The Grouse Inn (award winning pub) and probably the best bit, the River. We spent time in the River, swimming and playing, virtually every day, kids absolutely loved it (and me!). Corwen (6 minute drive) has a well stocked Nisa supermarket and plenty of take aways. Llangollen is a 16 minute drive which has plenty of shops, river activities, horse drawn canal boats and the all important Oggies and Ice Cream! Worth a visit to the stunning aqueduct too!! Loved this place, the area, the locals and will definitely be back in the future.

Cottage was fairly clean, nicely decorated and fairly well equipped.
The bathrooms were lovely and modern. Not alot going on in Tyfor but it's a good base for exploring the area we found plenty of good places to visit within half an hour's drive. Loved being able to pull the car at the back of the cottage and shut the gates for secure parking . We used the back door the whole holiday as this was so much easier with our dog in tow. There were a few downsides , such as we personally found the beds really uncomfortable. I wouldn't actually recommend this place for more than 4 people either to be honest, not if your planning on spending time there as there isn't room for 6 people to sit in the living room or sit and eat. For just us two, it was perfectly fine. We found it odd that no cleaning supplies or hand soap/hand towels were provided and no washing up liquid so we had to go and shop to be able to keep the property clean. All that was provided was antibac spray and a sponge. There was also no recycling. We were provided with just one tea towel which was fine, but there was no oven glove or mitt and so once the tea towel was wet, no safe way of removing hot trays from the oven. There was alot of maintenance issues we noticed like plug sockets hanging off the wall upstairs, bathroom door doesn't shut, plug in the tub doesn't work. Something to note if you need to use your phone or work, I had very poor signal and the WiFi wasn't great and stopped working constantly or was very slow despite having full strength signal. Overall, it wasn't a terrible stay and none of the issues besides the plug sockets or beds were major, but all those little things that wouldn't be a bother alone did add together and detract from the stay.

Lovely interesting property.
Only ânegativesâ were, it was very dark on the ground floor (probably lovely and cool when itâs hot weather though because of the thickness of the walls), to relax in the tv/games room (a wonderful room) means carrying cups of tea etc up and down two flights of stairs all the time and the third childâs bedroom/bunk beds is very small (we didnât need this but note if you do - it is a room for sleeping only, no play room for kids at all!!) BUT - there were a LOT of positives - interesting, plenty of room, comfortable, really well stocked/equipped with all the general bits and bobs for cooking/cleaning etc. plus lots more, lovely situation, nice and quiet, great for dogs being hard floors with rugs on every level, (though we had to be really careful on the stairs as being wood they were very slippery for our two - so we had them on a lead up and down stairs every time), garden not dog secure but nice outlook and had the weather been warm we would have sat out at the table to the rear. Tip - if you have dogs and take them out last thing, youâll need a torch as itâs pitch black outside (and yes, there is a torch in one of the drawers - well equipped again), although we took our own. We will be back in the area within 2 months and would have stayed here again but we need a Saturday to Saturday booking for this next visit which unfortunately would be an astronomical cost for this place as we would be charged for two full weeks as itâs only let Friday to Friday - a bit of flexibility and reasonable pricing would be helpful here!

Lovely little house, was so cosy and warm and welcoming on our arrival with lamps on and the heating turned up.
Slight hiccup with the wifi, (phone signal very poor) couldnât find the code anywhere. A quick message to the owner who arranged for the cleaner to come around and help usâ¦â¦.turned out someone mustâve moved the tab with the wifi details on. Facilities, had everything we needed to prep both NYE and NYD dinners, although there were no prosecco glasses, only wine ones. We managed though. Limited breakfast bar seating in the kitchen, but there is a drop leaf dining table and some dining chairs in the vestry (games room) The Vestryâ¦â¦.what can I say!! This room is amazing! A huge space with the biggest tv Iâve ever seen, complete with all the channels (Netflix etc, log in with your own password) a full size pool table and darts board. And the room gets surprisingly warm despite its size and high ceiling. Loads of big sofas and extras like the optics on the old pulpit to form a bar, seating that is clearly from the old chapel, all made this an amazing space that we practically lived in during our stay. The house is very centrally based for loads of beaches (we managed blustery but dry walks on both NYE and NYD) and is less than 10 min drive to town for supermarkets etc (although Phwhelli is not particularly dog friendly in the pubs and cafes, eventually found one after getting soaked and trying 5 before that) Abersoch was a lovely place to visit. We had a fabulous New Year break, just what we needed. Would definitely return to this house again.

Off street parking was a real boon.
Very spacious accommodation with a great garden. Had a plumbing issue, due to previous, inconsiderate guests washing beach sand down the bath plughole and causing a blockage. Sorted very quickly by the owners and a plumber, although we wasted a morning waiting in for him to clear the problem. Wherever you're staying, please don't swill sand down a plughole...it doesn't go anywhere and creates problems. All furnishings very comfortable, although the double bed felt slightly narrower than a normal double - it may also be that I'm accustomed to a king-sized bed, so I might be wide of the mark.. One minute walk to Harlech High St, less than five minutes walk to Harlech Castle. The time we spent there was mostly in the enormous kitchen/conservatory, which has more furniture than the average house, along with Velux windows in the roof (electrically operated) and a view over the rooftops of Harlech to the Llyn Peninsula. The kitchen is also very well-equipped, including a dishwasher, washing machine and a tumble dryer, although you'll need to take your own detergents, etcetera...a great trade-off when you can go home with barely any dirty laundry. Probably the best TV in any holiday let we've been in. Large and with a live Netflix account, so plenty of viewing choice for those days when you don't fancy braving the Welsh rain. Recommended.
