What our customers say about their holidays

The house is ok.
Fairly nice but noticeable damage and marks on the walls and radiators. Needs a proper freshen up to make it look decent again but the cleanliness is disgusting. We walked in to find used bedding stuffed on the floor in some bedrooms and scrunched up on the bed in others. No beds had been made. Dirty towels had been left in the corner of all bathrooms. The kitchen was filthy with grease and crumbs. There was out of date milk in the fridge. The air fryer was absolutely filthy - looked like it hadnât been cleaned in months. There were stains left in the toilet and the inside of the toilet seat. There was also a used bar of soap stuck to a flannel on the sink. We then found medication under the sofa, mouldy milk in the coffee machine and dirty bits floating round in the hot tub. The owner does not live nearby so is not present, he hardly contacted me when I raised the alarm of the issue. I had to keep ringing him and he even started to ignore my calls so I had to ring off another phone - which funnily enough, he answered straight away. He wasnât able to get us a cleaner until the next day - meaning we had to clean the property ourselves, make our own beds and put the towels in the washing machine ourselves. In addition to this we also hoovered and disinfected the property. We cleaned the thick grease off the hob and baking trays and cleaned the bathrooms - there was no way we couldâve lived in it for a night until the cleaners were able to come. The cleaners came the next day (which at this time was pointless as we had to clean ourselves) and told us that this is actually the second time the owner hasnât had the listing cleaned in between visitors which says a lot. It really is such a shame because the previous reviews were great so Iâm not sure whatâs gone wrong recently but to be honest I wouldnât kennel my dog in that house given the state we walked in to. We paid £880 for two nights, had to clean the property ourselves and make our own beds and the owner gave us a pathetic amount of âgood willâ compensation back which amounted to £205 - not even half of one nights stay let alone two. Basically, avoid at all costs unless you like dirty holiday homes. I have all the proof in many pictures, phone calls and text messages so what I have written cannot be argued and is the absolute truth.

The house is in a great location for Rhosneigr and is plenty big enough for our party of 10.
The kitchen/dining area with snug was where we spent pretty much all of our evenings and is a great set up for dining with friends of an evening. A great communal area. The property looks like it's recently been renovated and having all rooms (except the bunk) as ensuite is brilliant. It was a very comfortable stay and with the beach at the back of the house, the location was just great. The house was perfect for the dog, as it was tiled throughout making it ideal. Th garden was gravelled and fully enclosed also, which makes life easy, although I would say it could be done up a little. Apart from it being handy for the dog, you wouldn't really spend any time out here - but perhaps you don't need to when in Rhosneigr as like I said, the location was absolutely stunning for beach walks, popping into the town or heading to watch the Valley planes taking off. There have been plenty of reviews regarding cleanliness, so I'd like to make a point of saying we didn't experience this at all. The house had been cleaned and that's not a comment I would leave. Perhaps they've made some changes since then - I have no issues with the cleanliness. There are a few problems with the property with the shower door in the attic being broken and there being a clear leak from one of the bathrooms onto the kitchen, which we found impossible to report to Sykes when we arrived, as getting hold of anyone or finding a contact number just impossible. This was only a concern from a point of view of ensuring it was clear these things were done before our arrival. There are also no instructions upon arrival which are always handy regarding where to put the bins, recycling, laundry, wifi code, the local area etc... There are also no 'niceties' that you usually find in property like some bin bags, dishwasher tablets, a bit of tinfoil or oil for cooking... welsh cakes on arrival. Although, it didn't impact the trip. Just be mindful to take everything with you that you would need or you'll be purchasing at the shop. On the whole I would book again for a big group

The positives are that the house is big enough for 9 people and it is near to a path that leads to the beach.
We had a few issues some of which Sykes responded to and menial holiday homes came out to rectify while we were staying. Other issues are :- the outdoor shower is not heated as advertised. There is no family bathroom or bath so please be aware of this and if the people in the bunk bed room need the toilet in the night they would need to go into one of the other bedrooms or go downstairs. The water and ice dispenser on the freezer isn't working and needs an engineer to fix it I see this was reported last year in a review and obviously not fixed. The parking space at the back is very rough ground and piled with weeds and really only suitable for a 4x4 vehicle. The privacy lock on the downstairs toilet cannot work because of wrong fittings in the door frame. The bunk bed room blind needs a safety hook putting on it. There is a washing machine and a clothes line but no washing basket and only 8 clothes pegs. There is also a clothes airer. Sykes houses seem to vary as what is left in the house on arrival, this one had toilet paper, guest soaps, some milk and Bara Brith but very little cleaning materials apart from some anti bacterial spray, no condiments or kitchen roll. We have had better houses through Sykes in other years. There were plenty of tableware and cutlery, lots of knives and 3 meat tenderisers, 2 egg slicers and other things we didn't use but no fish slice or tongs or scales which would have been useful. Some proper up to date instructions in a folder on how to get the smart tv working and some leaflets on what to do in the area would have also been nice. The DVDs left in the tv cabinet were not suitable for children on wet days. It was ok for a week but not really value for money. we had good weather which helped. we wouldn't book this house again especially as the price seems to have almost doubled for 2025. A bit disappointing really but it was only for a week so we made the best of it.

We had a lovely week in this comfortable house which had everything we needed for our family holiday.
The beds were beautifully clean and comfortable and it was helpful that four of the five bedrooms were fitted with ensuite shower, toilet and wash basin. The kitchen is well equipped and the range cooker is in very good working order and a useful size for a large party. The beach is just a short walk from the house. There are a number of ornaments and decorative fittings which we didn't think were necessary and which we moved to a safe place till the end of the week, but of course this is a matter of personal taste. One ornament, a ceramic model of a cormorant in the top bedroom, was already broken when we arrived and we mentioned this to the agent. We had no problem parking on the road outside the house but the parking space for two cars at the rear of the property mentioned in the listing turned out to be a piece of rough ground littered with junk and, when we first arrived, blocked by an old car with a flat tyre. (This turned out to belong to a neighbour who subsequently moved it). It would be more accurate if the mention of a rear-of-property parking space was removed from the description in the listing. The fridge freezer is a sophisticated model and a good size but the ice dispenser didn't work. The middle window blind in the first floor front double bedroom didn't open. It's worth mentioning that there is no bath, so guests bringing very young children might want to bring a baby bath with them. Perhaps a rotary dryer or washing line would be helpful for drying swimming towels etc outside. Overall a great choice for a family holiday and we would definitely use it again. Thank you.

Lovely comfortable spacious holiday house, great for a family of 3 generations plus 2 dogs (an older lurcher and a middle-aged greyhound).
Fabulous location near the most beautiful walks around Newborough nature reserve. The owners were very lovely, very helpful. We had a really great time and would highly recommend this house. (I'm adding a useful note for people with dogs who might want to know how secure the garden is: - we were not entirely confident that our large dogs could not jump/step over the wall at the front of the house (which faces straight onto the main road through the village), so we did not let them off-lead in the first part of the garden. This maybe ideal for smaller dogs though. There is also a very large lovely secluded garden (big enough for kids to play football) beyond the gate which we did let them run around while supervised - this is mainly very high hedges, with a small section of fencing / gates of about 4 foot. The very back boundary of the property is a bank with a small wire fence across the top, very overgrown with shrubs and weeds so my two more sensible older dogs did not attempt to push through, but if you have younger, smaller, more determined dogs or you visited in the winter months when the vegetation had died back you would need to be careful that your dogs do not escape through here. I hope that this information is useful, but please check first as each dog is different! Our dogs had a fabulous holiday and loved having some garden to run around)
