What our customers say about their holidays

  • Caroline - Verified booking

Lovely apartment, clean, comfortable and good location.

I would have given it 5 stars but the situation re parking needs urgent addressing so I'm onky giving 3 in the hope it will help get that sorted. When we booked the adjacent pay and display car park (owned by the Harbour Authority, who also own this apartment and the others in the complex) was advertised as costing around £5 or £6 for 24 hours. We have previously used the car park when visiting Caernarvon and budgeted accordingly. However on arrival we found the car park now costs more than triple that expected cost - almost 4 times that actually. Anyone booking until this issue is sorted should bear in mind that to park in the car park daily could add almost £150 to the price of the weeks rental. There are other parking options a reasonably short walk away but we found that quite inconvenient. Really there needs to be a parking permit included in the rental cost - owners should either up the price of rental and include a parking permit or declare this hidden cost. Overall the apartment is lovely but it is very overpriced when you factor in the extortionate parking costs. The Restaurant in the complex, La Marina was really good. We thoroughly enjoyed eating there and definitely recommend. It was very quiet most nights, probably the car park pricing is having an effect there too. The caretaker at the complex was very helpful. Told us all we needed to know, a very nice man. As other reviews have stated there is no information about how to use the appliances in the apartment. We worked it out OK, buy clearly previous residents hadn't as the dishwasher was clogged up having had the detergent tablet forced into the rinse aid compartment so maybe placing some information about how to operate things will help them last longer! Would we return? Yes - if parking issue is addressed, otherwise there are better options that are more luxurious and cost less.

The Garden House was just as described.

It was perfect, a home away from home. There is everything you need for a few days away. The decor was absolutely gorgeous, it was lovely and clean, and there was a thoughtful little gift was waiting for us. The honesty bar was a nice touch too. We loved the log burner, but only used it once as the accommodation was lovely and warm. If I had any niggles (& they’re not really niggles) it would have been nice if be the kitchen had more storage space, we’d taken all the food for four days and did struggle with the cupboard space and the fridge space. But we managed and I appreciate it’s a holiday home so not the same as your home kitchen. Also we LOVED the hot tub, it was so peaceful and relaxing. It might be an idea given the inclement weather we suffer, to maybe have a covering so you can still use it even if it’s raining heavily. Also, it was quite dark in the corner so maybe another outside light by the hot tub would be nice. Like I say we had the best time. We followed some of the recommendations from the welcome guide. I would highly recommended a trip to Newborough Forest. The walk through the first to the beach and island is simply breathtaking. I would highly recommend The Garden House, and from what I could see all the other accommodation on site looked equally as gorgeous. Thank you for a fabulous stay. Just book it honestly.

My partner and I booked a weekend away here to relax away from our busy stressful jobs. The place is like a retreat. The bedroom in particular is so comfortable and calm with the views of the farm land with horses in. It smelled amazing, the bed was the comfiest we’ve ever slept in. Bathroom is lovely and modern, two can fit in the bathtub! We loved the addition of the log burner and the fact the whole house heating is controlled by the flick of a button. The smart tv in the living room has Phillips hue lighting which changes with whatever you have on the tv! This made for some awesome movie nights. Overall this is the best cottage we have had the pleasure of staying in. We were very sad to leave it and hope to return in the near future. The welcome package of Welsh cakes, tea, coffee and Prosecco was greatly appreciated but we would suggest possibly having some milk in the package for the hot drinks. The only other improvement we noted was that the sofa could do with updating it’s pretty flat and deflated. Thank you for having us!!

I loved staying two years ago, and that has only grown.

Particular with the proximity of Caernarfon Castle, and the Menai Straits. What adds to this beautiful scenic stay was the mountains and Snowdonia as a backdrop to this restful stay. The small town square, and it’s church. And of course it’s friendly and lovely villagers. In addition, the flat that I stayed in Moel Tryfan overlooked craft shops, of course I visited the craft shops. Beth’s gallery has been an absolute inspiration. As my visit was a little longer I visited Mostyn and Abakhans. And also got some time in Llanddwyn island! I’m currently learning Northern Welsh language, and will be back to visit other parts of this breath taking, and certainly underrated part of Wales. A huge thanks to Colin the caretaker, who always ensures that I have a safe stay, and in a respectful way.

Website pictures were matched by reality - a good-looking and convenient place to stay.

However, living there proved something else: no instructions on how to operate any facilities, couldn't get some to operate; those that didn't work were not fixed in spite of our raising the issues on our second day after having found them out; other things were plain irritating. In short, the various things that didn't work/couldn't see how to work spoiled the whole show - and non-one helped, at all. Very annoying and frustrating. We were told that many of the things we raised had been raised by others, so why were they not fixed then? Shame, as most could be fixed at little or no cost. So, if you fancy a good-looking and convenient place to stay, go ahead but do not expect to like it that much on closer acquaintance. You have been well warned.
