  This is a great house in a wonderful location and we received a warm welcome from the owner as well as scones and fruit.

  The property was very clean and in a great location with gardens and views to match. There are a couple of points that should be considered to improve the property to match other 5 star ones we have stayed in but should not put anyone off renting this location. The lounge would benefit from some new sofa’s and one should be larger or an L shaped one that will accommodate 6 people as the 2 small ones this is a struggle to math the number it accommodates. Also look to update the tv for a modern smart tv as this one is very dated. The kitchen is very clean but looks dated and getting ready for replacement and a refresh. The downstairs shower room is ok but the shower water flow is poor and a modern unit would address this. Upstairs the mains bathroom has been modernised already and is great standard and this just needs to be reflected in the other rooms mentioned above. A further improvement could be made by adding an upstairs shower room in the dressing area above the downstairs one as the main bathroom does not have a walk in shower. We had a great holiday stay at the property and would return and agin the feed back would turn this from a great to and outstanding location

  Charlesworth is an excellent property in an enviable hill top location with panoramic views over the Taw Estuary.

  The house itself was warm, clean and well equipped and on arrival we received the best owners welcome pack that you could wish for, a very nice touch. There is a downstairs double bedroom with an adjacent bathroom for those unable to use the stairs, whilst the first floor master bedroom and ensuite bathroom are very spacious. The garden is large but is not totally enclosed for a dog as there is an open driveway albeit on to a very quiet lane. It wasn't warm enough to use on our visit but there is a summer house in the garden where you can sit and enjoy the stunning views. The house is ideally situated for exploring the area. The expansive Saunton Sands and Braunton Burrows are just a short drive away via the toll road to Crow Point. At low tide there is huge swathe of sand with no dog restrictions and in March it was virtually deserted. The more well known beaches of Croyde and Woolacombe are also within easy driving distance. A little further afield but still worth a visit are the towns of Ilfracombe and Lynton and Lynmouth. All in all a very enjoyable stay and we will return in the future.

  First class accommodation with spectacular views.

  I cannot recommend this property highly enough; the photos almost don't do the property justice. We arrived to gorgeous gardens enveloping a sweeping drive to the property, and wow what a property. This property is immaculate with amazing views overlooking the river Taw. There is a lovely view from every window. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need. The bedrooms are immaculate with comfy beds. The downstairs bedroom also has an accessible shower room, so those who struggle with stairs can still enjoy staying at this lovely property. Arriving to home made scones, jam and cream, along with home made bread, fresh fruit and flowers was a lovely surprise, as was the refresh of bedding/towels half way through our two week stay. Arlene was the perfect host and full of local knowledge/recommendations. If you want to explore the beauty of Devon and Cornwall, do it with this property safe in the knowledge that you will have the perfect stay.   We have just returned from a long weekend at Berisal (four generations of one family.

  ) We all thoroughly enjoyed being at the property. The owners kindly provided us with a digital copy of a guide to the house before we arrived. This thoughtful gesture was so useful and meant that we didn’t have to spend the first half hour or so of our visit familiarising ourselves with the house. The house was spotlessly clean and we were greeted with a lovely card and welcome basket when we arrived. The beds were very comfortable and plenty towels and linens were supplied. The kitchen was well equipped Everything was just as shown on the website. The garden was immaculate and the hot tub was really appreciated by those who used it – my son, my granddaughter and her partner we’re brave enough to get in in cold February. The games room was heated and had its own toilet. The house was comfortable and we never felt cold. I can certainly recommend this property and for a multigenerational family like ours it was simply one of the best places we have stayed with Sykes.

  Home-made bread, scones, and jam, plus milk, butter and clotted cream waiting in the fridge, what a nice welcome.

  Surrounded by fields, birdsong and sheep, Charlesworth is a large, spotlessly clean property on a large sloping plot overlooking the Taw tidal estuary. With fabulous views from the patio, the lounge, and the master bedroom, the property is 6 miles drive from Barnstaple, 5 miles from Braunton, plus 5 to stunning Saunton Sands. The huge master bedroom has a bath in the en-suite, while the downstairs double has a linked shower-room. Arlene, the owner, is helpful and friendly, while the Information folder in the large lounge also contains instruction booklets for the microwave, washer, and so on. The double garage contains a table-tennis table, bats, and various other family games. All in all a splendid home for a quiet retreat, but located conveniently for Barnstaple, Braunton, Saunton Sands, Croyde and Woolacombe. and within reach of Exmoor walks and other Devon attractions. We've already reserved our holiday here for next year!
