What our customers say about their holidays

The property is clean, small but very comfortable and charming.
The bed is super comfy. The facilities are good and, although we didn't use the cooking facilities, there appears to be everything that's needed, plus 4 of all crockery etc. The shower is easily regulated with good spray power. However, the shower tray is showing signs of wear and tear and needs some minor remedial works to it's appearance. The bedding and sheets provided are of excellent quality. There is no enclosed outdoor space attached to the property, but Rich allows dogs to use the pub garden first thing in the morning and last thing at night, and there's an exercise green a short walk from the property. Look out for the adorable Marley & Luna, the owner's black Labs that will come and calmly say hello! Rich & Hannah are very welcoming and approachable and there if you need them but don't impose on your stay. The welcome pack of tea/coffee/milk, biscuits and other treats is very much appreciated, esp the delicious bottle of red wine! The property is well placed and I recommend visiting Monmouth, Chepstow, the Forest of Dean (Puzzlewood and Mallards Pike Lake), Tintern Abbey/Devil's Pulpit/The Old Station Café and the Wye Valley. There are also nice walks along the river from Lydney Harbour. There are plenty of dog friendly pubs, a short drive from the property, serving excellent meals or, if you just want a drink, the Netherend Inn is very friendly and welcoming and just a walk across the drive! We had a really enjoyable week at the property and if I could make a suggestion to improve, it is to provide somewhere to dry the bath sheets, such as 2 large wall hooks, or a heated towel rail, or possibly a folding clothes airer, which would be useful if you need to rinse any clothes out as well. We both, and our 2 dogs, had a fab stay thank you , and hope to be back again!

We absolutely loved our stay in The Annexe.
Came for 4 nights with just me, 2 teenagers and the dog in a fairly rainy week, so was slightly nervous about keeping them all entertained and happy - but needn't have worried! The house was immaculately clean (and I mean, totally, utterly, spotless clean) and we couldn't have asked for better, more modern and comfortable facilities (my first time cooking on an induction hob - worked a treat!!). The lovely owners even provided us with a home-baked cake and cookies - they didn't last long with the teenagers in the house! Wi-Fi had a super strong signal, so we were able to stream movies, play games on our devices etc with no problems (essential with 2 teenagers in tow!). Plenty of piping hot water for showers or a bath, too. The beautiful but also wildlife-friendly garden and views from The Annexe were magnificent - I had a real stinker of a cold on our holiday, so spent a lot of time happily sat in the reclining lounge chairs reading and watching the birds coming to the feeders out the window. The location was perfect for a big range of activities too - we went to Go Ape, Goodrich Castle, Symonds Yat and the Taurus Crafts shops & cafe, but saw many other places we would've loved to explore if we'd had a longer stay. All were dog-friendly and lovely places to go (essential as my dog has separation anxiety so has to come everywhere with me). We loved our break in The Annexe and couldn't recommend it more highly as a place to stay.

We booked this cottage after reading the reviews especially about how clean the cottage was.
Unfortunately we found the cleanliness below what we expected, the oven did not appear to have been cleaned for some time as the racks and the inner trays had burnt on grease on them, there were several cobwebs in the bedrooms, the kettle needed a descale and there was no rinse aid or salt in the dishwasher. We were disappointed with the lack of room in the double bedroom and think this should have been mentioned in the write up of the cottage or a picture of the room at least so that we would have known. Unfortunately because the bed was pushed right up onto the wall this was not suitable for the older members of our party as this meant that 1 person had to climb over the other to get out of bed. The bathroom sink plug (push to close, push to open) was inoperable as it kept popping open and the kitchen tap was constantly dripping. As there are 2 cottages next to each other it should have been made clear when booking, or in the information book in the cottage, that each cottage has there own lawned area, unfortunately the people in the next cottage did not seem to realise this and played solely on our garden which was right outside our cottage. They also let their dog loose and did not always pick up after their dog, infact we ended up having to clean up after it before we could play on our lawn. We also had a dog but did not let him off the lead. I guess itâs just luck who has booked the cottage next door

Just spent another week in this beautiful cottage which is situated in a tranquil location.
The property has a gated entrance and is surrounded by fields and a lake. It is very safe for young children and a perfect place to take a dog.\ On arrival there is an excellent welcome pack and the cottage is spotlessly clean. It is very well equipped making it seem home-from-home. There are televisions in both bedrooms and the lounge. Plenty of room to put food in the fridge and the freezer. Also very useful having a dishwasher and a washer drying machine. Outside are places to sit and relax. We enjoyed having a BBQ.\ This location is ideal for visiting the beautiful Forest of Dean and to get further afield to places like Ross-on-Wye and Chepstow. There is always a warm welcome at The Red Hart pub at Blaisdon. The food is very good and dogs are welcome in the bar area if you want to eat. Can also recommend the fish and chip shop at Littledean. Also found the Severn and Wye Smokery at Claxhill has a wonderful deli and fresh fish counter.\ There is so much to see and do in this area that you are spoilt for choice. Our dog has enjoyed long walks and our Grandson loved toddling over from the cottage to the field so that he could stroke the cows.\ This is our second visit to The Old Dairy and we all enjoyed it once again. Thank you to Ben and Sally for another lovely week.

My hubby and I enjoyed a very lovely half-term week at this delightful cottage with my mum-in-law and aunt-in-law and our puppy Chloe.
The cottage was very warm, cosy and well-equipped. We loved the fact that we drove through private gates to get to the cottages and we were surrounded by farmland and yet near lots of nice villages. The cottage owners were extremely helpful and welcoming and the cottage was absolutely spotless and well decorated. They provided a very useful welcome pack and tea, coffee and useful items such as a few dishwasher tablets were provided too. The bedrooms weren't huge but they were nicely furnished and the bed was very comfortable. There was a nice, large enclosed garden area, ideal for dogs, and we were invited to enjoy the farmland and the lake in the next field - we only did this a couple of times due to the time of year we visited but I can imagine it would be fantastic to visit in summer. The cottage was in the pretty village of Flaxley and ideally situated for visiting the Forest of Dean, parts of Wales and if you wanted to go a bit further, the Cotswolds.
