What our customers say about their holidays
Mrs Smith - Verified booking
Seahorses is well located on the outskirts of Fowey, on a very quiet road. Being just a short 10 minute walk downhill into the center means the house also has plentiful parking and no need to navigate the narrow streets. We were warmly greeted with a little gift which set the tone well. The house was warm at all times, clean with all the amenities we could ask for and more. It was a pleasure to use the kitchen to cook for family meals and the living space with seating, dining and kitchen allowed the family to all be together. The living space was light and bright with views on to the back garden. Beds were all comfy, with towels provided. As a request, for future stays, it might be helpful to just have an extra hand towel in each of the bathrooms as there were only our shower towels. Very picky, but could make life slightly easier. There is a shop just a 2 minute walk along the road that is open most of the week until 6. Well-stocked with essentials as well as some butcher meat too. Nearest supermarket was St Austell, 15 minute drive away. We were well within reach of many places including Eden Project. We ventured a little further to Looe but you really don't need to. Great walks from the house itself. The loop across to Polruan and Bodinnick is worth a mention, as is the walk along to Gribbin Head. Communication prior to our stay was great. Frequent emails regarding key safe, directions and check in times. Kudos, the property was ready early and we were told we could arrive early but by the time we received the message, it was too late for us to head down to Cornwall to benefit. Perhaps more ideal if you live closer. We wouldn't hesitate staying again! The only niggles we had, and we appreciate this is not necessarily a reflection on the owners of Seahorses... 1) A 9am departure, whilst also being asked to strip the beds and empty all the bins, is quite tight in terms of turnaround times. Any other holiday lets we have had in the past year, who have asked us to do these things, checkout has generally been 10am - affording us that extra time. It just meant the final morning wasn't relaxing which was a shame. I think if departure is 9am, then perhaps they need to review what they're asking guests to do. 2) A security deposit of £250 is a lot of money to 'shell out' when there seems no immediacy for its return other than a message from Cornish Horizons stating 'We'll be in touch soon'. Whilst I appreciate the need for the property to be protected against damage, I do wonder if there is another way of being able to retrieve money should the property be left in an unacceptable state that doesn't inconvenience the majority of guests.

Our two weeks stay at Hybadore was fabulous.
Fantastic location, fantastic accommodation. Just outside our converted barn we had a private garden which was a real suntrap. Our dog loved that garden, but not as much as she loved the meadow immediately outside the garden gate. There are a couple of benches supplied in the field and we used them to admire the spectacular sunsets, with a glass or two of vino. Inside the house the kitchen is very well equipped and finished nicely. In the living room there is a huge and comfortable L shaped settee, which is essential if your trying to relax after lots of dog walking and swimming! Everything was spotless and very well presented. The owners of Hybadore, Terry and Sarah-Jayne, are extremely welcoming, seemingly always willing to stop and chat and a real source of local knowledge. There is a local pub down the hill in Golant village, The Fishermans Arms, which is a great spot for a few beers a good food. The hike back up the hill didnât feel too bad after that! Hybadore is a great base to explore all that Cornwall offers. Definitely a 10 out of 10!

What a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Seahorses! We were a family of 4 and a dog. The house is really bright, airy and very spacious! All the bedrooms were well equipped with extremely comfortable beds. Lots of wardrobe or drawer space to unpack which is always nice. The children loved having their own rooms. The view from the main bedroom was stunning! We really enjoyed the decking area and were lucky to have had a week of sunshine to make the most of it. The garden is small but filled with beautiful planting. It's nice and secure if you have a dog. We also made use of the BBQ a couple of evenings. Its in a very quiet road and a there's off street parking for 2 cars. A pleasant 10 minute stroll downhill takes you to the river front with all the gorgeous shops and eateries in Fowey. Walking back uphill was harder but it was good to walk off dinner and a Ruby's ice cream. There was a little playground opposite the house which was handy. We felt a week wasn't enough and would love to return :-) Thank you Seahorses!

Two weeks of bliss with our two border collies.
Ideally located property in beautiful surroundings. Accommodation is spacious and has everything you need and accommodates all your needs. The views are great as the living accommodation is upstairs and benefits from the main bedroom downstairs as cooler with the lovely hot weather. Bed was really comfy. Great shower and bath to soak your muscles from walking. Additional separate toilet from main bathroom is ideal. Loved walking in the meadow opposite the enclosed garden and seating area. 10 minute walk to the estuary and the Fisherman's arms so great to have a meal and a pint without using the car. Fowey short drive away for lovely for places to eat, quirky shops and views. Terry and Sarah Jayne great hosts as well as mum (thanks for the mop bucket as bit of a clean freak) The only thing I can say to improve the experience would be an upgrade to the corner leather settee but functional. We would definitely stay again as so peaceful.

I would highly recommend this accommodation.
The cottage was lovely, the setting was beautiful and peaceful. Good parking facilities. Easy access to all the places we wanted to visit. Sarah-Jane and Terry were very welcoming and friendly and were happy to answer any questions we had about the cottage and places to visit. The cottage was clean and spacious. Our party was 4 adults and 2 dogs and there was plenty of room. There is a good sized garden with chairs and table and the use of the meadow beyond was lovely for an early morning or evening stroll with the dogs. There was a welcoming couple of bottles of Fowey cider. And a lovely touch was the jar of dog treats and a tag for a dogâs collar giving the name and phone number of the cottages. We had a wonderful 2 weeks. Thank you Sarah-Jane and Terry. We will be back.
