  Our booked six night stay consisted of one night before we gave the keys back and found somewhere else to stay.

  In 25 years of renting holiday cottages, this was by far the worst. Spartan, poorly equipped, no room whatsoever, no storage space and what we believed to be us having the run of a large garden (as the photos depicted) for our two spaniels, we had a 12 x 12ft patch of grass. The tv is at a 45 degree angle to the settee, so you had to crane your neck to watch it. No net curtains so no privacy. A kitchen without a cooker, draining board or washing machine, the latter essential for a cottage that's supposedly dog friendly. As for the front door..... We were told NOT to turn the car around using the property opposite's drive which necessitated reversing down the narrow lane to get out, no mention of this when we booked. Presumably the cottage owners and the neighbour don't get on? The directions to the place weren't even accurate. If this place WAS converted from a barn, I can only assume that the barn was more comfortable. When we departed on the Sunday morning, the owners weren't in, so I texted them to say we'd left the place and to let them know where we'd left the key. Several hours later they replied to say, "oh dear, thanks for letting us know, we hope you find something more suited to your needs". No apology, no " what could we have done to make your stay better?", essentially, " thanks for your £400, 'bye". I just can't believe the glowing reviews for this place, people must have very low expectations. We will NEVER book through you again, a complete and utter disappointment.   Beatiful setting and gardens The outdoor wooden room very comfy chairs great to sit in and read .

  Very comfy bed.Overlong curtains caused an accident. .No comfortable chair To sit in to watch tv only wicker iron dining chairs covered by fluffy white sheepskins. After a day out I enjoy watching TV from a comfy chair and about 8 some nibbles.Idont.like watching TV from bed or eating snacks inbed but understand this is personal 7 sheepskins in an area you approximately 35 ft.by 10 feet to accommodate sleeping area dining and cooking including sidetables bookcase and bedside tables so small.Despite leaving switch on longer no water sufficiently hot to wash greasy dishes kept running cold as it did in bathroom sink.3 cupboards of China one narrow cupboard for food The shoser came apart on day 3 when I tried to cleansoap dish.slide doordoes not slide so water fromShower gets through. quite a space.storage.smallfridge although room for a taller one.Food storage difficult for 7 days yet alone nine. Cooking a faff as no hob or oven set up apart from microwave oven which was not cooking through properly have to set up equipment and store back. Again personal choice I'd provide Cornish scones from post office in pack rather than Lidle nationwide ones.A welcome binder would be really useful. Fresh flowers all around in garden but about five poor plastic plants in barn. Clothes washing difficult had to boil kettle for dishes and clothes couldnot find basket to carry clothes to line.

  We stayed at Pirata in September 2024.

  We had a very mixed stay with the property. Firstly the plus points - The location is excellent and off road parking in Charlestown is at a premium so it was great that this was included. The kitchen was generally well equipped (however missing the microwave that was advertised) and the beds were comfortable. Unfortunately this was outweighed by the negatives. The cottage had not been cleaned prior to our arrival and we were unable to contact the owners. Sykes were eventually able to contact them the next day, but we had to spend a night in used beds. The bathroom was very dated, smelled damp and had an old flickering halogen light which only turned on intermittently. The bedroom had french doors looking out onto decking, which should have been lovely, however the doors were warped and did not close properly, the week we visited was cold and wet and there was therefore a constant draft from the doors making it impossible to warm the lower portion of the property. We were provided with a nominal refund for the lack of housekeeping on the first day, but this did not cover even 1/10th of the cost of the stay. Overall would not recommend, although as noted above location, parking and nearby Charlestown are fantastic.

  The flat itself was lovely.

  It was clean, spacious and appeared well maintained. Unfortunately the promised welcome pack wasn’t there on our arrival but the owner kindly sorted this out by the following morning which was really welcome! Sadly, our stay at this flat was ruined by the noise from the restaurant below. Yes, the fact the flat is above a restaurant is mentioned in the details but the reality of this situation was very upsetting for us. There is clearly no soundproofing between the restaurant and the flat and you can feel vibrations from the music and conversations through the bedroom floors which went on until very late in the night, keeping us all awake and upsetting the children greatly. Sleep and rest while on holiday is vital but this situation resulted in only getting minimal sleep each night and coming home feeling horribly tired and disappointed. It’s such a shame the restaurant noise has spoilt such a lovely flat and a potentially relaxing holiday. We sadly would not recommend this particular place, sorry.

  Fantastic stay ,cannot fault it in anyway .

  The flat is like a tardis ,and the photos don’t do it justice .It is based right on the doorstep of mevaggissey,but still far enough back that noise is not an issue . Clean and fresh smelling upon entry. Beds super comfy . High quality tvs , wfi connection perfect. The owner left a great welcome pack,no expense spared . There’s also a few games supplied . Car parking which is free when you stop at the flat ,car park is 3 mins away, and the owner of the car park is so helpful. Yes it is above a restaurant which you can vaguely hear until about 10 ish ,it didn’t bother us in the least ,and cannot understand past reviews. We had to leave early due to illness ,which I’m sad about . All in all I can highly recommended this property ,and would return The owner/owners should be proud of themselves .
