What our customers say about their holidays
Giovanna - Verified booking
The remote location is stunning and certainly the best thing about this cottage.
The owners seem very friendly - we met them both shortly. Overall a very good stay. Cleaning was very good in all rooms, but a bit below expectations in the kitchen. The dining table cover was dirty in various places, and the handles of some of the cabinets felt greasy. We had to rewash some of the dishes and pots, and there was no proper sponge available for doing so. There was also some pet hair on the stacked table set, on the unseen tables. In covid times, given the 'extra time' and attention allegedly given to cleaning, one expects all parts of the house to be spotless. The other parts of the house were all very clean, no complaints there. There was overall certainly enough room for us, but the pictures online are taken with a wide angle and in fact they are smaller than one is led to expect. The garden was fantastic, with amazing views over mountains, sea, and sunsets. The garden furniture was adequate, with a table for eating and chairs for lounging or reading. Bedding could be improved: the mattress felt old and a bit sunk, and the duvet and cover are cheap synthetic material that made us sweat every night. Bathroom was spotless and there was always warm water, which was a treat after wonderful hikes. Overall a very good stay, with some room for improvement as indicated. We can recommend this place, especially for the magical remote location and proximity to very good walks in the fascinating Rhinogydd/Rhinogs. The village of Llanbedr is 12 minute drive away (narrow road!) and the beach just a few minutes furhter.

January 15th-21st 2024.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tegid Cottage. We were greeted by owner Stephanie on our arrival, who was really friendly and welcoming. The cottage itself was beautiful, with views of the snow covered mountains. The lounge was very spacious with lovely deep chairs and a sofa. The addition of the log burner made it that extra bit more cosy on the winter evenings. The kitchen again was very spacious, equipped with everything you will need for the duration of your stay. The main bedroom was a good size, with plenty of storage, and the bed was super comfy and toasty warm. We don't usually sleep very well in an unfamiliar bed, but this wasn't the case in the cottage. We would have happily taken the bed home with us it was that comfy. The second bedroom we only used to store our photography equipment in, so we can't comment on comfort. The bathroom is the smallest room in the cottage. We found that it was best to have a bath, as the shower proved a little awkward to use due to the sloping ceiling and exposed beams. The water was always piping hot though, which was perfect for our bubble baths. We absolutely loved the Donkeys, Lily & Gruffalo, who live in the Paddock behind the cottage. We treated them to a couple of carrots each in the mornings, and a couple of ginger biscuits and a cuddle each before bed. We will definitely stay at the cottage again, and will recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in the area. Thanks Stephanie, see you again next time. Stuart & Kelly.

Tegid Cottage is situated in a very rural and quiet setting, surrounded by the hills.
Despite its remote location it is very easy to find. It is approx 7 minutes away from Bala where you can find a Co-Op and Spar for grocery shopping. The cottage is truly a gem and feels like a home. It has a modern kitchen with ample supplies, a lovely cosy living room with 3 sofas and open fire place. It has loads of board games and books. On the first floor thereâs 2 bedrooms with comfortable beds and lots of storage space to put away clothes. The bathroom is equipped with a bath and shower head, which is powerful. Our children had lots of fun with the trampoline in the garden and they loved the two donkeys next to the cottage who they named Sam and Thomas! Itâs an excellent location to explore Snowdonia National Park. Most attractions are within a 45 min drive. The weather was not great during our stay and it got quite cold in the mornings and evenings, but after contacting the owner, they put the heating on without any trouble. We would highly recommend Tegid Cottage for friends, people who seek peace and quiet or families with young children like us. Our dog was also most welcome. Book this place if you can, I imagine it is very popular!

The location is absolutely breath-taking.
It's about 3 miles along a single track road once you leave the main road, as you get more remote, so does the phone and 3/4/5G signal (honestly - this is not a bad thing!). The owners are great and very helpful making us very welcome. The property was clean and had all the amenities we needed for our stay. Itâs remote but it was refreshing to be away from everything and surrounded by mountains. No issues with the TV reception on the free-sat. Some mention the shower isn't very powerful - don't panic... it does the job perfectly! Some mention cleanliness, we didn't have any issues. Remember it is an old property and you'll find the odd cobweb etc. It's a 2 hour walk to the nearest pub (The Victoria Inn). The food there is excellent as was the 2 hour walk back. There is no Wi-Fi at the property and as already mentioned the phone signal is hit and miss. If you are looking for a digital de-tox... look no further! We would definitely stay here again. One issue which has been mentioned by others is the lintel over the lounge door which is a little low - if you are over 5'10" make sure you duck when leaving the lounge!

This was one of the nicest cottages we've stayed in, and we've done about 40 with Sykes.
, over last 5 years. One important drawback was it was extremely cold on arrival. Heating not set to come on till 4.00pm. It is a very large cottage and does not get very warm. The kitchen, which is big with vaulted ceiling was gorgeous but was too cold to eat in, only one radiator. Heating set by owner to go off at 10.00 am. Bk on 4.00pm till 9.00. We asked for heating to be on an extra hour which was happily done by owner. I am fully aware the building is very old but it has been modernised, but not enough well positioned radiators. Weather was horrendous first few days with storm Isha and Jocelyn. Consequently we stayed in more than would have liked. Log fire in lounge certainly helped and a small portable heater in kitchen helped. Plenty of throws and hot water bottles supplied. Beds very comfortable and settees also comfy. Did not use outside space due to weather. Walks from cottage well signposted. On a personal note we would rather have paid more and had option of putting heating on.
