  We were made very welcome, the property was beautifully decorated for Christmas and there was a lovely welcome pack.

  Our main reason for dissatisfaction was the inaccurate information in the advertised property listing. For example the property description states there are two bathrooms, the main bathroom upstairs and a shower room downstairs. The shower room however, does not exist, the only facility downstairs is an outside toilet. To make matters worse the main bathroom had frosted glass panels in the door, which was far from ideal, as when the light was on in the bathroom, there was no privacy whatsoever. We went with another couple and would never have booked if we had known that there wasn’t separate bathrooms. Also the description states there is a log burner, and further on that all “fuel and power” is included in the rent, which suggests that a supply of logs would be available, they weren’t. Cleanliness was generally very good, apart from the oven and there was a small mark on one of the pillow cases which worryingly we thought was blood. Overall the cottage was well located, and would be ideal for a couple to stay in but definitely not suitable as it is for larger groups. As for Menai Cottages, I emailed them whilst we were there, outlining some of my concerns and they still haven’t had the decency to acknowledge or reply to me.

  We had a brilliant stay at Bodefi.

  The property was spotlessly clean when we arrived, with a welcome pack waiting for us too. The bedrooms were very comfortable and we appreciated the Smart TV in the first bedroom for Netflix etc. The attic bedroom was particularly lovely and on a clear night we could see the stars. The kitchen was well equipped, the only slight inconvenience we found was there were no free cupboards for putting food in that we brought, but that was only a minor point. The living/dining room was cosy and comfortable, and the log burner was great for the evenings. It could do with some equipment adding for safety (fire pokers, tongs, brush etc.) for tending to the fire, as the only thing provided was fire proof gloves. The starter pack of fuel was much appreciated, thank you. The bathroom was lovely and clean, with a nice big bath. As a previous guest has said, a blind in the bathroom would be a good idea for privacy, because it felt overlook from next door, especially with the window open! The cottage is superbly located in a quiet location in the village and for the beautiful beach, which is only a 10 minute walk away. The village is lovely for a stroll around too, and has a number of amenities. We would definitely return to the property in the future.

  We booked this as a last minute short break to visit family.

  Nice location and holiday park; loved the pool on the one day it was sunny enough to use it! Let down by an overwhelming smell of damp throughout the property. The inside of drawers & cupboards smelt very strongly of damp, for example in the kitchen glasses had to be washed before using to get rid of the smell and I didn’t unpack as I didn’t want my clothes to smell of it. We did leave windows and doors open all time we were in, but it didn’t help. There were air fresheners but they just masked the smell and faded quickly. No extraction fans in bathroom or kitchen. Generally poor cleaning throughout, lots of dirt and dead bugs in corners, shower didn’t drain very well, clearly not been properly cleaned in a long time, this was the end of the school summer holidays. Beds were comfortable but let down by really cheap duvets and covers. There was a 2 seater sofa (not very comfortable) and 2 small armchairs, would be a real squeeze for 6 people. No hairdryer. Has everything else you’d need for a short break and would be lovely if cleaned and the damp sorted out.

  Although we enjoyed our holiday in the apartment we were disappointed with certain aspects of the cleaning.

  The fridge and microwave hadn’t been wiped out and cleaned properly. There was quite a lot of food presumably left by previous occupants in the cupboards which we had to move, throw some out as they were well out of date and clean the shelves ourselves so that we could make use of them. In our view the bathroom had had a superficial clean, the toothbrush holder was a disgrace and we didn’t use it. The plug in the basin was also pretty horrid! The shower itself needed a ‘deep’ clean!!! We were a little taken aback to find these ‘problems’ with the cleaning as the previous reviews for the property had made mention of the cleanliness and we would have thought that with the present Covid 19 pandemic where the emphasis is on cleanliness amongst other things we were not anticipating any problems in this direction. We have stayed in a number of Sykes properties throughout the UK and have never found it necessary to make any derogatory comments before! It’s up to your company whether you publish our feedback.

  Charming and comfortable little house, not far to the beach and the hills.

  We walked a lot in the beautiful surrounding landscape, and it was a good spot for excursions around the Llyn peninsula, such as Aberdaron or Criccieth. Nefyn itself isn't very interesting, but not far to go to other nice places. The kitchen is well equipped and spacious, next to big a window-door looking out in the little backyard - but we missed a teapot, and the frying-pan needs to be changed - otherwise everything was perfect. A good modern bathroom and two bedrooms on the 1st floor, another one at the top of the house - with the best bed. Unfortunately we couldn't crawl up the small stairs to the top, so my wife and me took the front bedroom. PLEASE get a new mattress for that bed, it is really old and worn out (and very uncomfortable). Apart from that, we enjoyed our stay in Bodefi, very cosy - even our dog liked it. Also good to have room for the car in front of the door. Very nice of the owner to give us milk, teacakes and wine!
