What our customers say about their holidays
Shaun - Verified booking
Such a lovely house, it's nicely presented having a gentle mix of traditional old style build with modern fixtures and fittings.
. nicely done. I would like to suggest a couple of things to be addressed.. coat hooks on the wall as you walk in as some of our coats were wet after rain, it didn't feel right to hang wet things in the cupboard underneath the stairs. Though we did go to watch TV but occasionally we did such as the coronation.. noticed the TV is very dark in display and couldn't adjust (think it's on its way out) .. annoyingly my wife stubbed her toe on the bed, I have so found this to be quite common bed's like these, though it was extremely comfortable the hard surround can be quite hazardous if not paying attention.. we also found the lounge area to be quite dark as the ceiling lights are lovely but almost impractical... The external key safe is extremely stiff to undo this could represent problem for those with arthritis etc.. The shower was excellent and everything in the bathroom was good though many times the wc had to be flushed again and again as not enough water passed.. we ever used the back bedroom though its was superbly presented.. As a builder I am I noticed your kitchen cupboard doors were all warped slightly and the front door has problems locking and unlocking, some adjustments would be needed on this.. Please don't be alarmed as all these things are what I see everyday in my work, your property is really very nice and my wife loved it too which means everything to me... hope this info helps.

Sykes Holiday Cottages has NO customer service.
We asked for the twin beds to be made as a double and it wasnât. There was NO way to contact them and the WhatsApp messages were answered by a computer. Why is there no human being to speak to? The internet site just went round in circles and no phone number was answered. Dreadful experience. The information book was out of date and there was no paper for visitors to add comments or recommendations. There were no leaflets or where to go and what to do as we have had in other rentals. There is no shaver point: no coffee pot of any kind: no kitchen scissors: no chairs in the bedroom so nowhere to put some clothes: no hooks. We saw comments on line with the same issues and they had not been rectified. Poor! The so called garden was just some very scrubby uncut grass. The TV needed rebooting every time we used it! The outside light at the back of the property was faulty and we had to waste time waiting for a maintenance man to come and fix it. It was permanently on and the thin blinds in the bedroom were useless. The response from the maintenance team was quick and very efficient. The car park needs clear labelling as this caused issues with 3 cars for the occupants of the penthouse flat. However, the location was good and an easy walk into Caernarfon for pubs and restaurants as well as Tescos just up the road. The flat is light and spacious but basically equipped.

We had a wonderfully relaxing stay in this cottage at October half term.
The cottage itself was spotlessly clean on arrival. The décor is modern and fresh, with period features such as the interior stone walls and fireplace, and framed pictures of the area. The kitchen was well-equipped, there was plenty of space and the beds were comfy and generously sized. The woodburner created a cozy warm atmosphere in the evenings. I wish we could have stayed longer! The cottage is in a great location - the only sound at night is the river running by - you feel secluded but also within easy reach of the amenities of Criccieth and the attractions of Snowdonia. The David Lloyd George museum is 5 mins walk away and worth a visit. The cottage owner was extremely helpful with a couple of practical queries, and he also recommended some beautiful local walks, along the river (the leaves were stunning in October) and also a coastal walk that started from the front door. This area of North Wales is very dear to my heart, with a lot of family history. I would highly recommend this cottage as base to explore this wonderful part of the world.

Beautiful cottage in very rural area; unfortunately there was a loose metal roof on a cowshed across the lane which was banging in the wind making it less peaceful.
The cottage was beautiful, clean and welcoming - treats for dog and tea/coffee provided. Lovely wood burner - the dog enjoyed laying in front of it after a days hiking; the beds, however were very hard and it was difficult to get a good nights sleep esp in the double bed. Owners lived next-door but were very unobtrusive; we didn't see or hear any of the other guests during our stay. Biggest bugbear was the 9am checkout, which if I'd have noticed this beforehand, would have prevented me from booking this particular cottage, especially as we had to clean, clear and sort out the recycling etc. before we left, leaving the cottage as we found it - owner was around just after 9am to make sure everyone was out. This made the last night/morning a less than relaxed experience which was a shame on an otherwise pleasant break. All in all, some easily rectifiable issues which would make this cottage a 10/10.

We really enjoyed our stay at Gyda'r Lliff, the cottage is newly renovated and more spacious than the photos suggest.
We had our dog with us who loved the walk along the river opposite the front door. The courtyard garden is secure for the dog and we enjoyed sitting out there in the sunshine listening to the birds. Llanystumdwy itself is such a brilliant centre location for visiting the beaches of the Llyn Peninsula and the Snowdonia mountains. It's easy to self-cater, the cotrage has all the cooking utensils you need and there are supermarkets in Porthmadog and Pwllheli. Plenty of takeaway options too, near enough for food to still be hot when you get it home. The beds are a little firm as another reviewer had mentioned, possibly because they are so new. Top marks to the housekeeper, the place was absolutely immaculate (I have very high standards and often have to clean a holiday let when we arrive). A note to the owner: the sealant in the shower is coming loose
