What our customers say about their holidays

1. Great house - we enjoyed our stay and the blocked shower drain was soon sorted - thank you.
2. My daughter-in-law said there was nowhere to sit in front of a mirror to apply make-up. The bedroom "had been designed by a man" in her own words. The mirror was in the wrong place (upstairs double room). 3. The light at the bottom of the stairs is way too bright and needs to be dimmed. The children wanted the light on and the adults, in the evening, found that light to be a real annoyance. You could not relax with it. We assumed that it was a daylight (blue) bulb because it was so bright. 4. You might like to check the kitchen sink waste pipe, which we thought was about to block up. It made some really strange gurgling sounds. 5. A few more cushions in the lounge might be handy to create more comfort. 6. Some members said they could smell 'dog smells' in the house. None of us keep dogs and we assumed that the covers over the sofa and chairs were to accommodate dogs. Do these covers get washed before the next visitors? I have a very poor sense of smell, so it didn't bother me. 7. If you had supplied a sweeping brush with a long handle we would have swept the floors during the week but we couldn't find one. 8. The location is superb and very convenient for everything we wanted to do. When the drain blocked the repair was done very efficiently and did not impact on our holiday. Looking out over the woodland was a delight each morning.

My partner and I stayed a week in the Mountain hare lodge and we thought it was great overall.
The place was modern, clean and perfectly spacious for 2 people. The living room setup was great in our opinion, The reviews about the living room being boring are absolute waffle. The wifi didnât work for most of our stay but that was likely down to bad weather and weâve been compensated for the lack of connection so we didnât mind at all since thereâs a lot to do nearby regardless. We only had 2 issues, the first being the lack of a washing machine. For an area that receives very active visitors for extended stays it seems a strange decision to have a dishwasher instead of a washing machine. The laundrette in town is an option but itâs not ideal, especially if itâs busy or you lack several pounds in loose change. The other is that there only seems to be very hard pillows in the lodge, despite swapping pillows many times my neck was left so sore it felt like Iâd just been scooter spotting in Vietnam for the last week. These were both issues we didnât really have much trouble overlooking with how good everything else was about our stay, i couldnât think of anything else that was a downside whatsoever. Overall we did actually have a brilliant time for a good price and would come back again soon. Thanks!

We had an utterly amazing time at Red Deer lodge.
We really fell in love with the beautiful location which was amazingly peaceful and very picturesque. The lodge is very spacious and is well stocked with everything you could need. It is beautifully designed with an open plan kitchen and lounge area and 3 good sized bedrooms, 2 with balconies looking out into beautiful forestry. Lovely large windows throughout for enjoying the beautiful views. All of the soft furnishings and accessories are from John Lewis, a very stylish touch. We so enjoyed sitting in the balcony in the morning enjoying a coffee and beautiful views. There is decked area accessed through the lounge and also a side door so was great for bringing bikes and dogs through, thereâs garden furniture as well so we often sat in that area in the afternoon looking out into the forest area. It was so peaceful with birds singing throughout the day, simply amazing. Thereâs a further decked/covered area at the main entrance which was great for storing jackets and shoes/boots etc. The only problem we encountered was with the induction hob, could only get one of the rings to work, wasnât sure if the issue was with the hob or the pots and pans. We will definitely be returning to the lodge in the future.

Church View is a cosy property BUT .
. . . . . these are observations. They are NOT meant to be criticisms 1. The steep stairs cries out for a banister rail on the left side of the stairs going upwards. 2. ONE toilet roll is NOT enough. 3. There was no dish cloth available. We were unable to wipe down surfaces, spills, etc. 4. No cleaning spray available which would have helped with kitchen roll with the above. 5. A revamp of furniture would make greater use of the space available. Remove the two easy chairs in the living room. Move the bookcase to the left of the wood burner. Move the blue settee into the living room to where the bookcase was - then a family of four can sit more comfortably together. The circular table takes up too much space. With the blue settee moved into the living room, there is more room for maybe a rectangular table in the far end of the kitchen. 6. The light switch for the bathroom is faulty. 7. We left the property a day early because we just could not sleep in the bed for one more night. The mattress was woefully thin as were the pillows. SO uncomfortable. 8. The curtain in the living room is too long. Heat from the heater simply goes up hte curtain and then against a cold windowpane.

To make this useful feedback- the lodge was plenty big enough, lots of thought for storage and wet weather stuff.
Nicely laid out and didnât feel too crowded at all. Very comfortable beds, great showers. The thing overall that would have made The biggest difference to comfort is the installation of insect screens so windows could be opened without midges and wasps ( yes, two wasp nests found and reported) coming in. The upstairs rooms were uncomfortably hot at night, preventing sleep in some instances. The main thing that was disappointing was the lack of induction hob suitable pans. We reported the frying pan initially and were given a new one towards the end of the week- but it was clearly marked not suitable for induction hob. We then checked the other pans and only one was appropriate, which explains why it was so difficult to cook. There were also no oven gloves ( our friends next door did have them). Given that these are self catering cottages that is quite a big fail. A smaller improvement would be the provision of hooks on the back of bathroom and bedroom doors to hang towels on. Location was great. The lodges were well designed so even though they are close together they had privacy and quiet. We would potentially consider booking again.
