Nice cosy cottage with a comfy bed and great shower. There’s even a bath if you need a soak after a long walk. River on your doorstep with easy access to local walks and wildlife. Easy walk into Settle. And if you want to use your car there is so much to do within a short drive. Also the train to Carlise goes through beautiful scenery. Really good communication from the Catherine who checked we had received all the information to Access the cottage. We would stay there again

The weather during our stay was pretty terrible, and the adjacent river was a raging torrent, but the cottage was cosy and welcoming – the perfect place to hunker down and just relax. We loved the traditional style, and felt very comfortable there. It has lovely stone floors throughout the ground floor, which can be easily cleaned, so I wasn’t anxious the whole time about wet dog paws creating a mess. We found it very clean and homely, with everything we needed for our stay. The kitchen equipment even included a cafetiere, getting a big thumbs up from my coffee guzzling partner.I had been concerned about keeping our dog (a water-loving spaniel) out of the mill pond at the bottom of the garden, but a small gate means the garden is fully enclosed, so there was no need to worry.Settle is a short drive or walkable distance away, and between Booths, the Co-op and all the independent shops there, we were able to buy all the food we needed. We also found The Golden Lion pub very friendly, and the dog was made most welcome there with water and treats. We have a relatively small car – a Suzuki Jimny – and had absolutely no problems getting up and down the lane to the cottage and parking in the allotted spot. And the neighbours we saw from the other cottages were all pleasant and friendly. There is immediate access onto some great footpaths, so some days there was no need to use the car at all.We loved our stay at Langcliffe Lock Cottage and plan to return, hopefully in better weather, to explore further.
