When set against the many cottages we’ve stayed in over the years this was very much on the small side making the dining table unable to use without rearranging the sofa. No instructions with regards to heating especially the towel rail in the bathroom. No spare blankets, no cleaning cloths for wiping surfaces, no spare loo roll, ( we bought our own). The bed was,(for me), extremely comfortable. Comfortable but too cold for my wife. The location is excellent for north Essex and south SuffolkHare and Hounds pub is way too expensive for a northern lad I’m afraid. £18.50 for fish and a few chips. The local park and rides offer great value for Colchester, Chelmsford and Ipswich. All well worth a visit, Ipswich being the best to visit. Flatford Mill in Constable country is well worth a couple of hours.

A lovely small cottage in the centre of birch, very close to a pub. Very clean and everything in there I needed. Great to have the woodburner. Very cosy and I will return soon I hope. Thank you.

Comfortable, well equipped and very clean cottage. Storage heater in the living room/kitchen was a little tricky to get the hang of but lovely and warm once working. There is also the option of a wood burning stove in that room.
