Thwaite Bridge House is a charming, characterful cottage in a tranquil rural setting, ideal for families and those seeking a peaceful retreat. Guests praise its spaciousness, well-equipped kitchen, beautiful gardens, and unique historic features. The conservatory and abundance of books and games add to its homely appeal. While some mention minor maintenance and cleanliness issues, most found the property comfortable and memorable, with easy access to the southern Lakes and local walks. The cottage’s remote location offers privacy and wildlife, making it a delightful base for exploring the area.
Several guests found the property generally clean and welcoming, but a few reported issues such as cobwebs, dog hair, and the need for more thorough cleaning on arrival. One review highlighted significant cleanliness concerns, while others noted only minor issues.
The rural, secluded location is highly valued by most guests for its tranquillity and proximity to the Lakes, though some noted the narrow access roads and distance from shops. The peaceful setting and surrounding wildlife are frequently praised.
Guests appreciated the spaciousness, comfortable beds, and homely atmosphere. However, a few mentioned issues with bed size and comfort, as well as dampness and minor maintenance affecting comfort for some.
The kitchen is repeatedly described as very well equipped, and the house offers a good range of books, games, and maps. Some guests experienced maintenance issues with lighting, bathrooms, and garden security, which impacted their stay.

Had a good two weeks at the cottage although the double bed in the main bedroom is tiny and really uncomfortable and could do with being replaced. This is an old cottage and had many original features which I like. Couple of negative things, the main bathroom light was not working and the downstairs toilet was not working. I reported this and a local tradesman came but could not fix the problem. He said someone would be out to fix the light and toilet the next day but we never saw anyone for the rest of the holiday. This meant that the main bathroom could not be used at night unless you used your phone torch and the downstairs toilet was not working. This left one toilet and one shower between six, that could be used when it got dark. The area is beautiful but the poor customer service did put a damper on our whole holiday. If these small issues are not fixed I would not recommend staying here.

Spacious accomodation full of character in a very sereen location, surrounded by plenty of wildlife. A little less noise from The Barn owl would be appreciated.

Lovely house with beautiful gardens & all we could need in the house. Could have been a little cleaner on arrival but overall a great place to stay.
