Renowned as the ‘Book Capital of the World’, the historic town of Hay-on-Wye is charming to the core and boasts not only a plethora of independent new and second-hand book shops but ancient castle ruins and wonderful walks including Offa’s Dyke Path (0.5 miles) at the foot of the Black Mountains and the Wye Valley Walk which both run through the town. While away an afternoon skimming stones and watching canoeists paddle the gentle rapids of the river beach The Warren just over half a mile away. Keen outdoor explorers can get to know the surrounding area very well by enjoying golf, fishing and horse riding.
