  The cottage is in a lovely location on a private estate.

  We liked the ability to open the windows to allow air into the property, plus the blinds to cover the windows helped to reduce light during the early hours of the morning. The binder with instructions on the various devices was very useful. Kitchen worked as it should but it could do with a large frying pan. The shower was overall good but we found that the boiler would lose pressure every few days so we just increased the pressure for a couple of seconds until the needle got to the recommended mark and the shower would then contintue to run warm/hot. The shower head is a little stiff but that's more down to the hard water so if someone has tried to adjust the jet then it might not lock in place and hence water shoots through the top and wets the bathroom, fan in bathroom wasn't working but not an issue. Main double bed is on the firm side which initially isn't ab issue but on the last two nights we started to feel it so might be an issue for some. The bunk room is only suitable for primary aged children which wasn't an issue for us though. The chill out room is great for kids to play, stairs are a little steep and exposed at the top but a toy box covered that part and wasnt an issue but others would need to be aware if they have smaller children. Cottage generally clean, just a few cob webs in bathroom corners but otherwise clean duvets are showing their age and could do with replacing. The small front garden isn't enclosed but that's stated on the site but gets the sun during the day which is good. Overall good and we enjoyed our stay.

  We have stayed in quite a few of your listed cottages especially ones on Farms, all have been of a very high standard regarding comfort and furnishings.

  We think this cottage is in need of an upgrade the cooker although in good working order is very old, the furniture in the lounge is not comfortable to sit on of an evening after being out all day especially for an older person as backs are so low. The hot water went off the owners had forgotten to mention that we needed to press a button in order to reset it as it seems to have a problem. At all other properties we have stayed there has been a welcome starter pack, i.e. tea,coffee,milk even biscuits and treats I had rad the reviews before booking and several said it was nice to arrive and find a tray + eggs on arrival, so we did not take those things, however, we had a jug of milk in the fridge and some pieces of flapjack. I do think that a welcome pack is a good idea so you don't have to go out after a long journey to get the essentials. So we were a bit disappointed that we paid the same or similar price for this property but it was not up to the high standard we had come to expect from Sykes.

  Wow, what can we say other than WOW!

  ! What a great time we had staying at the Fern. Not only did we love every minute, our 2 cockapoos, Maggie & Mabel, had the time of their lives there too. They absolutely loved running around the grounds and seeing some of the farm animals from across the way. And we were able to relax, knowing that it was in enclosed, so the dogs were safe at all times. The hot tub was perfect, along with the outside fire. Julie, the owner, went out her way to ensure we had the best stay there. From providing stuff for the dogs (poo bags, water/food bowls, toys etc), she also posted back to us a few bits that we had accidentally left behind there - ops! The Fern was super clean and comfortable. Just an all round perfect stay. We will definitely be back!! And I'll be recommending it to everyone I know!! Thanks so much again Julie!!   From the moment we arrived at Firefly Cabin, we knew we had discovered a true gem. Nestled in the heart of rolling hills in the Devon countryside it captures the essence of tranquility and an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.One of the highlights of our stay was the outdoor experience. The fire pit, set under a canopy of stars, provided the perfect setting for our evening gatherings. We spent countless hours sharing stories, roasting marshmallows, and basking in the glow of the crackling fire. It was a magical way to unwind and connect with each other. The hot tub, however, was the crown jewel. Soaking in the warm, bubbling waters while listening to the gentle sounds of nature was pure bliss. It was an unforgettable experience that left us feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.

  Lovely location and very nice cottage.

  We enjoyed the walks around the estate and the welcome pack was a nice touch. Excellent shower and playroom area for children plus lots of games which was a very thoughtful touch and much appreciated by our 7 year old! The only issue we had was heat - it was a chilly February weekend and despite extra fan heaters, it was really cold at night. No extra blankets provided and an extremely thin duvet for a winters holiday. The bed was very uncomfortable and we woke rather exhausted instead of rested. As we don’t get much chance to get away, it was a bit of a disappointment. Am sure the cottage is stunning in the summer months and a real treasure.
