What our customers say about their holidays
Mrs Mollison - Verified booking
This is our fourth stay at Correggio and I love it. It sits in a wonderful position close to the beach as well as shops (co-op, amazing butcher with organic free range meat, fisherman's hut 50m away for the freshest seafood) making for a very easy holiday. No need to book a Tesco/Waitrose delivery - everything is on the doorstep and it's a pleasure to shop locally! Aldeburgh still has some lovely independent shops - if we don't use them, they'll disappear. Correggio is like no other holiday property I've stayed in - better than home from home in so many ways. One can't help but feel it's a privilege to share this house with the owners even though it's only for a holiday. It's steeped in history. Perhaps worth mentioning, but not as drawbacks, are two points. The property does not have a freezer - not necessary anyway in our view because of proximity of local produce. Parking a car takes a bit of forethought as the area immediately outside (Oakley Square) is a paying car park. There are a few free 2 hour maximum spaces nearby or you can pay for the car park. It's easy enough to unload your car and then abandon it elsewhere. What we do is park in the long stay car park about 10 minutes walk away (at Fort Green) for about £4 a day or at the top of the Town Steps which is unrestricted - running up and down the steps is good for fitness!

This is the second time we have stayed in Pebble Beach Cottage, perfectly located with only a short walk to the beach, shops and restaurants.
Comfortable and clean, and liked the added bonus of a second sofa in the lounge as a lot more comfortable to sit on than the previous chairs that were there. Beds comfortable. Bedding and towels provided along with other extras like T towel, washing liquid, dishwasher tablets, and food wraps. Cupboards well stocked with crockery, pots and utensils, everything you should need for your holidays. Nice welcome present of wine and chocolate too. The property has a nice safe enclosed garden, there are a few steep steps leading down from the parking area to the garden. Only issue was the back door was very hard to unlock and we struggled to lock it at times, this maybe due to the wood expanding as its winter, same with the back gate opening as use to stick. If you have a dog you will need to block the lounge door with chairs to stop it going in there at nights as this does not close shut, also it would be useful to have a stairgate as there is no way to shut your dog off from going up there without blocking the stairs. The doors do close up stairs though to stop them entering the rooms should they get past the barricade.

This a super property with an excellent location and all the equipment you could need. The biggest and first problem, which is out ofcotrol of the owners, is that of parking. We arrivedon a sunny May Saturday and every parking spot near the flat was taken. We parked illegally for half an hour to unload and then found a 2 hour spot not to far away. Before 9.00 am I moved my car to the parking next to the fish shacks, which is probably the only non time limited parking In the area. We soon got used to early or late car movements. When it comes to the apartment, what can I say? It was just great. We cooked fosh from the fish shacks most days but also eat out a couple of times. Plenty of choice here within a few minutes walk. Coffee in the Magpie Bakery after buying bread. We had a continuously interesting view of the cinema from the dining table but never went. The sitting room was comfortable and the kichen wanted for nothing. There was even a proper teapot, unlike overseas rentals. If fact we never used a lot of the facilities, washing machine, beach furniture etc. were never touched.

We love Aldeburgh and like quirky which were two factors that influenced our choice of cottage. We were not disappointed with the location and it was great to be able to leave the car and walk everywhere from such a prime position, and enjoy the hustle and bustle that Aldeburgh offers. Having recently done our own 70's makeover at home we were looking forward to what we would discover at the cottage, and it is indeed quirky and eclectic. However, some of it is at the cost of comfort and potentially cleanliness which is a shame e.g. propping up a divan with books is neither quirky nor eclectic, nor is having to sit on top of several scatter cushions to get any kind of comfort on any of the seating in the lounge. The weather during our stay was cold, wet and windy and we appreciated the warmth of the cottage throughout and the very powerful shower in the ground floor bathroom. Response from holidaycottages.co.uk: Thank you for your review. We have spoken to the owner and the issue has now been resolved.
