What our customers say about their holidays

We had a lovely week at Ty Jem and enjoyed exploring Criccieth and Snowdonia.
Hereâs what we liked: The welcome pack with Welsh cakes, milk, tea, coffee and jam was a nice touch, thank you. Entrance hall, space for shoes, walking boots and coats was perfect. The games room was great fun and easily and safely housed our bikes too. The kitchen was brilliantly well stocked, has everything we needed (and more!) and everything was good quality and easy to operate. The lounge area was great, good size, we enjoyed relaxing on the sofas, the HD TV was excellent and the dining table was just right. We had breakfast and a few drinks on the balcony which was nice. The beds were really comfy, clean and warm, TVâs in the rooms went down well and storage was great. The showers were consistently powerful, really lovely after a day on the beach or hiking. Fantastically easy to get to the beach and all the Criccieth has to offer by way of shops, pubs, cafés etc. We found breakfast and lunch nicer and easier to eat out than dinner which was limited. And the not so good: This property is so close to the train station you can hear the platform announcements, the big, slow diesel trains and their whistles. The trains are every two hours each way so itâs not too intrusive but should be detailed on the listing - as should the big fences and barbed wire between the driveway to the property and the railway line which only spoils the view of you look down - the views looking straight ahead towards the sea or up towards the castle are amazing day and night. We wondered if perhaps the property had been vacant before we arrived as it had obviously been cleaned, but had become dusty again in parts with a few dead flies in windows - easily resolved with a damp cloth and the vacuum cleaner, but not what we expected to be doing on arrival. There was also a stubborn sticky patch on the kitchen worktop by the microwave which was cleaned with some elbow grease, but shouldnât have been there. The en suite in the master bedroom at the top of the house felt a bit odd, the room is massive, but the sink is small, probably cloakroom size and the shower, although spacious and powerful, leaks onto the floor at either the top or the side. We personally donât like striping beds and towels before departing, but did so as requested and recognise the covid context. Overall we would stay again and would recommend this property.

Just returned from a weeks holiday staying at Ty Jem property in Criccieth Wales and what a fantastic time weâve had!
!. Ty Jem is a real home from home as its furnished to to a very high standard and unlike a lot of rental properties weâve stayed at before, is fully stocked with everything you need to really enjoy your stay. As soon as we walked through the door you could tell the owners had put a lot of thought into the property, from the comfiest of beds in every room (they even provided a choice of firm or soft pillows to choose from), to the well stocked kitchen, which had everything you needed to make literally anything!!. Even the dog was well catered for on his stay with water and food bowls provided for him!. The property is excellently located centrally in the village and is close to a good selection of shops, restaurants, takeaways and of course the lovely beach. Itâs also close to the train station, so itâs easy to hop on a train for a lovely day trip if you donât fancy driving. There are some lovely walks right from your front door and the Welsh costal path is also right on your doorstep. I donât normally write reviews, but on this occasion, I felt compelled to do so. Ty Jem is a real gem of a property, we canât wait to return again later in the year, so itâs 5 stars from us!!

This was a week of sea air and mountain views and it didn't disappoint.
We had had a long journey through torrential rain and floods but the moment we walked through the door, the warmth of the house enveloped us. Everything was exactly as described, but with a high end finish. House remained warm all week and beds were very comfortable. All in all house surpassed our expectations on all fronts. Neighbours we met were friendly and the weather was superb after the first day when it rained, we had sun most days at some point and on our last day spent a good amount of time on the beach with our dog as it was so warm and no breeze. Criccieth was much as we remembered from previous holidays. Pwllheli was rather run down in the town centre, like so many others across the UK, but we still enjoyed our walk across the dunes watching the jet skiers in the bay. The snow capped mountains in the distance belied the warmer climes on the sea shore across the week. We hope to return later in the year for another injection of sea and mountain air.

We liked the accommodation very much but we were disappointed that there was no bins provided at all for recycling ?
There was just 1 black bin liner for the week with 4 adults sharing. This one bin liner was for everything food waste, paper, bottles ? As you can imagine in hot weather this would start to smell and attract flies. I rang the cleaner up and she said to just leave it in the garage ? We cannot understand why there was not bins provided in this property when all the rest of the neighbours had them? Also the outside of the windows were filthy full of cobwebs etc We needed up cleaning the outside the kitchen windows ourselves as they were so dirty? Also the place could do with a lick of paint. Just one other point the property would benefit with a second Double bed rather than 4 single beds, But on the positive side The property was in a great position for the beach etc. We would happily return, Hopefully the waste issues will be resolved next time Thank you David

The house is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac with a two minute walk to the beach.
There is a hill to climb either way to get to the main High Street but itâs not too steep and is a good way to work off some calories especially if youâve stopped at Cadwalladers ice cream parlour! The property was very clean throughout, the bed was very comfortable and the rooms are very spacious. Due to Covid protocols there were no scatter cushions in the lounge so if youâre not very tall like myself I would recommend bringing one from home. I also found the dining chairs were a little too low for the dining table so I used the wedge cushion from my car. Apart from that everything else was excellent. We had a small problem with the TV stand and reported it to the owner and it was replaced with another TV within a few hours. All in all we had a lovely weather and it was a good holiday and I would recommend this property.
