What our customers say about their holidays
Andrew - Verified booking
Gabrianne is a pleasant holiday let which we found to be spacious, clean and well equipped.
Pretty much your standard holiday let weâd say. Itâs well located for exploring the area and has a couple of decent pubs a short walk away. We only used the two double bedrooms one of which was of was of adequate size but the smaller one was a tighter squeeze. The beds were very comfortable. The twin beds and bunk beds were not used so canât comment on them. We did note though that two of the rooms lacked adequate facilities for hanging clothes which would be a helpful improvement. The kitchen was fitted with modern units and appliances with plenty storage space for groceries. There was lots of cutlery, crockery and ovenware (although one or two oven trays could do with replacing as they were a bit tatty). A huge fridge and a separate small freezer (but perfectly adequate for most holiday needs we thought). The conservatory is a pleasant place and which we used in the main. Had the weather been cooler then the lounge would also have been a comfortable space. The dining room (open plan to the lounge) with a good sized table was also up to the job. There was plenty of information available about the local area and a good library of maps which we made use of. Thereâs also enough entertainment technology to suit most needs. The rear garden is a good size and private with open fields beyond. However, given Dorset is one of the prettiest parts of the country, it does lack some real TLC. Itâs pretty much just a âcloverâ lawn with a few bedraggled plants hither and thither. With just a little more care to make it a more attractive area it could be a huge asset to the property! It probably suits families with children or dog owners as it wouldnât suffer too much damage though so maybe thatâs the reason? We had a problem with the cold water supply to the bathrooms and previous occupiers had also commented on this. The water was literally just âdrippingâ out of the upstairs taps when we arrived. Dream Cottages arranged for a plumber to attend, which he did, but in the meantime we discovered the cold water feed from the cold tank in the loft had been turned off. When turned on the cold water flow was sufficient and perfectly acceptable but it is not direct from the mains (as it is in the kitchen) and also not potable (only the kitchen is potable). Weâd suggest this should be pointed out in the information file for the house. Overall, a good holiday let. Thank you.

The cottage is in a lovely location.
It's very quaint and comfortably furnished. The sofa and king size sleigh bed are very comfortable. We spent a lot of time in the large well equipped kitchen/ diner looking out at the river, which was lovely. There was a lovely welcome pack for us and our dog, which was a nice touch. The communication and instructions from owners slso very comprehensive. We never had any problem with hot water for bath or shower and the heating is controlled by hive thermostat so you can alter if needed. The cottage was always warm and we were never cold, despite not using the log burner. There is a Pub within walking distance and 3 others within a 10-20 min drive. There is a Spar inside the local garage for emergency provisions, but we had asda delivery whilst there The cottage is nicely situated for exploration of the south coast. We visited many beaches whilst there, all within 30 mins-1hr away. We also visited stonehenge which was an hour away. You don't need to leave the village if you just want somewhere peaceful to relax. My partner caught fish in the river too, which he was delighted about. We were very lucky with the weather though. 17 degrees and sunny mid October. The owners are lovely and were very kind to allow a short overstay due to storm babet. The housekeeper is also friendly and was happy to advise places to visit based on your interests We would strongly recommend the cottage for a holiday.

The holiday cottage was very clean and welcoming.
The location with the river meant you could see wildlife from the windows and the rear patio and over the week we saw fish, crayfish, egrets, heron, voles, squirrels and rabbits. Not forgetting the swans which demanded their breakfast every morning! The kitchen had everything you would need and more for a keen cook. The welcome pack was lovely and much needed after a long journey the bread and cheese in particular were a big hit with the family. Claire next door came to ensure we had what we needed and gave us recommendations on where to eat and places to go. We were visiting Dorset to visit Monkey World after my daughter had watched the programmes in lockdown and this was about 40 mins away. Weymouth was about 25 minutes, Lyme Regis 40 mins. We were happy to travel and also found lovely walks from the village. The village shop over the road stocked some nice items and the Spar shop at the garage was also good. The local pub (Chalk and Cheese) not very good and the food would not be recommended but the nearby villages had nice places to eat but need to be booked. We enjoyed our stay at Riverside. Thank you!

We stayed in The White Cottage with 2 adults and 6 teenagers.
It was lovely to find a box of biscuits, tea, milk, sugar and coffee when we arrived, not that the biscuits lasted long! Great layout of rooms for our needs and really comfortable beds. No pressure on getting everyone through showers/baths with three bathrooms and the laundry room was really useful. Lovely decor throughout, very new and fresh. There were ample good quality towels and crockery, cutlery, glasses, saucepans etc. I did call to report that the larger frying pan wasnât induction hob compatible and the lovely owner Joy came round just a few hours later with two new ones. Excellent service. If you have dog with you, the garden is completely enclosed and dog safe. Our group of 15 and 17 year olds were able to walk into town and to the beach quickly and felt safe coming back after dark. They enjoyed the independence and found lots to do in Weymouth from snorkelling to SUP, the beach, the funfair and pitch and putt/mini golf. We enjoyed them being independent! Thank you, we very much enjoyed our stay.

The white cottage is with in easy reach of the town about a 10-15 minute walk away, the home was very clean but was lacking a few basic things ( washing line, can opener ) maybe not essential to everyone but things we missed.
The house is a good size and accommodated us all well with sleeping/eating/sofas.The house doesnât have a tumble dryer ( totally understand with the cost of electric but since no washing line made it hard to wash/dry clothes. When we arrived we had no heating but was fixed later that day. The only negative for us was we had a problem and we couldnât arrive until the next day of our holiday we noticed the property had no bookings after ours so asked the booking agent if we could move our holiday Saturday to Saturday was told yes that fine but it would be an extra charge which would have been 1,322 more than what we paid for the original booking I did query if they meant the difference and was told no I would need to pay 1,322 more. When I looked at changing the days ie instead of the fri/fri to a stat/sat at different times though out the year the cost stay the same amount, which obviously seemed unfair. But overall we enjoyed our stay at the white cottage.
