What our customers say about their holidays

We have just spent the Easter weekend at Dingle Den, 2 adults, two boys (a 12 year old and a 14 year old) and a 2 year old Labrador.
We were greeted so warmly by all of our names (even the dogs) and lent some walking books after enquiring in advance about local walks. Our dog is a nervous fella and Jo was very understanding and kept her very well behaved dog away and showed us how everything worked and we felt straight at home. The Den is finished to a really high standard and was immaculately clean. Complimentary logs, fire lighters, biscuits, tea, coffee and water made settling in really easy. There was also washing up liquid, hand soap, towels and tea towels. We brought food (and water because you canât drink the tap water) with us for our stay and there is a big enough fridge and storage. We barbecued on the fire pit in the evening which was great and sat on the logs around it to eat, one morning was warm enough to eat breakfast on the picnic table outside the Den doors which is a lovely option. The private space that comes with the Den is so much bigger than photos can do justice to. It is vast and beautiful. Although we were expecting a stream from reading the reviews we werenât expecting the amount of stream and the little waterfalls and it really made it for us. The boys (who are normally stuck to a screen) loved exploring it and the dog thought all of his Christmases had come at once! We could have happily not left the Den at all for the 3 days (we played boules and football and did an Easter egg hunt and mooched about the grounds) but we did venture out and the walks are beautiful and quiet. Walking boots at this time of year are essential. One days weather was very wet but when we got back from our walk the Den was warm and cozy and just looking out the doors at the view was lovely. With no TV and no WiFi I caught up on some reading (the kids had some signal on their phones so survived in our down time) We specifically chose Dingle Den because it was remote and we wanted to be able to take our dog who canât cope with strangers and it was absolutely perfect for recharging in a relaxing environment and we really hope to return (but maybe without the kids next time

We had a great time at the Dingle Den!
There were two of us and a dog, and it was the perfect size. There is a private car park space and a wheelbarrow to help with getting luggage up the path to the den. The den is perfectly secluded and has a fenced private field with a stream which we were able to let our dog roam free in. The den is eco friendly and runs off solar power which is enough to charge one iPhone at a time and power lights etc but not to use a hairdryer and no fridge. Alternatively, there is a fridge in the barn down the path or you can store items in the stream to keep them cold, which we did-this was quite fun! The shower has good pressure and the water is hot. There is a composting toilet. Kitchen facilities were good and we had a couple of fires in the wood burning stove. There is a fire pit outside that we didnât make use of. The best part of the Dingle Den is that the field leads straight onto a path with many walking options. We did a couple of routes which looped up and over the Catâs Back. The family were very helpful and gave us a lovely welcome pack with homemade scones. Would highly recommend for a break from city life!

Dingle Den was everything we hoped it would be - stunningly beautiful, peaceful and private.
We spent a week away from phones, laptops and traffic and we left feeling totally relaxed and revitalised. We spent so much time outside, enjoying the surroundings, having campfires and BBQs and watching out for wildlife, but when it was time to go in for the night the Den had everything we needed - comfort, cleanliness, a super-comfy bed and a great shower! You soon learnt to adapt to life without a fridge (the box in the river works a treat) so donât let that put you off! Itâs only a 20 minute drive from Hay on Wye, where we went on a canoe trip down the river and enjoyed great brunches (at the old Electric shop and The Granary, plus you can have a great coffee and people-watch sitting outside Cosy Cafe) and can highly recommend a hike up the Catâs Back for stunning views over Herefordshire and the Black Mountains (and you can set off from the gate at the top of the paddock) We just loved the peace (and the privacy!)â¦there is nothing to hear but birdsong, a babbling brook and the sheep in the field next door. Utter bliss - we will be back.

This is our third time here, so I think that says a lot in itself already!
Our dogs (Jess & Badger) constantly enjoy being out in the meadow + playing in the stream; itâs pretty enclosed, so itâs nice for us to allow them to be out and about, whilst we relax and donât need to worry about their whereabouts. The owner (Jo) has always been very welcoming and ensured we have everything we need & are happy/comfortable, each time weâve stayed. This is definitely going to become one of our regular holiday spots with the dogs⦠Again, I think thatâs pretty obvious! We do go out and about to neighbouring towns (like Hay-on-Wye & Abergavenny) but thereâs lots of walks right on the front doorstep of Dingle Den + weâve spent quite a lot of time just at the Dingle as itâs well equipped and has everything we need; going out to neighbouring towns isnât a necessity here, just an added option for those who like to explore and go to new places. Thanks again for a wonderful stay at Dingle Den! Iâm sure weâll see you again soon. Jo, Col, Jess & Baj

The location of dingle den is perfect, very secluded and the surrounding scenery is beautiful!
It's perfect for a small family wanting to explore or a couple wanting to escape a busy and stressful life. It's very peaceful, and for me, my partner and our dog has been an amazing short getaway. On arriving we received a little welcome basket with homemade scones, butter, jam, a small jar of milk and some bottled water which was a lovely touch and very welcoming! The den is solar powered so there is no fridge, we kept things cool in the nearby stream and the owner does keep a small fridge in one of their buildings just a short walk from the den. The den was spotless inside, very cosy, comfortable and well equipped. The fire pit outside is wonderful and we enjoyed a barbeque and toasted marshmallows on our last night! Shops and pubs are just a short drive to hay on wye and there is a local pub about 5 miles from the den and the food was lovely. This short break exceeded our expectations and we are hoping to make it an annual trip.
