Dog Friendly St Just Holiday Cottages

The nearest settlement to Lands' End, St Just is a charming base for exploring the western part of Cornwall. Once the centre of tin mining in this area, its heritage is reflected in the granite used to build many of the local cottages and the disused engine houses scattered about. The central Plain-an Gwarry is a theatre that was used to stage miracle plays in the Middle Ages and is now a vital part of the Lafrowda Festival, which is a colourful celebration of community arts that has been taking place here in July since 1996.

At Dog Friendly Cottages, we know your treasured pup should be a welcomed part of your holiday adventures too, which is why we specialise in dog-friendly cottages in St Just. Searching for a family-friendly holiday home with sea views and a log fire? Maybe you want a relaxed self-catering cottage close to walks or a romantic hideaway with a hot tub. From cosy to contemporary, you'll find a wide selection with us.

Our dog-friendly St Just holiday cottages are perfectly positioned for you to make the most of your Cornwall holiday. From admiring art at Tate St Ives to exploring the Penwith Heritage Coast, you'll have lots to do.

What our customers say about their holidays

  • Mr Strawbridge - Verified booking

Great cottage for exploring this corner of Cornwall with everything it has to offer from historic mines to amazing scenery and far more than we managed to see in one visit. An extended original "miner's cottage" there was a great connection to the past we wanted to investigate in the area. Great food at the local Trewellard Arms and at Geevor Mine among many other locations. For those wanting to explore the mining heritage, having three major mines practically on the doorstep, and within walking distance if you try a bit, is great and you can watch sunsets over the mine heads and stacks from the cottage. Visitors with dogs may want to be careful of the local cats who like to sun on the courtyard wall, but cat lovers will need to avoid adopting the bravest who will try to come in if you leave the back door open. Maybe not great if you have a large car, but them most roads around that part of Cornwall are better suited to small cars anyway. The road outside can get you fretting about getting in and out unless you are confident getting in and out of a fairly blind turn into a narrow road or turning the car within the shared parking area. Don't see that as an issue with the cottage though, it's the nature of Cornwall and a world which remains much unchanged since before cards existed - take the chance to live a different life for a while.

In my opinion, the property is in need of much better cleaning.

My son (who never normally comments on cleanliness), felt uncomfortable sleeping in the second bedroom saying it smelt of dog. Which the rugs did. There were also hairs on rhe bed linen and the matress protectors looked ancient. In the main bedroom, we had a missing mattress protector. When I raised this l felt we were fobbed off. There were also hairs in the draws on the back of the main door etc. Its a lovely property in a great location for walking etc, but really does need some tlc and a really good clean. Also, while we appreciated the welcome gift, I'm not sure it would land well if your were vegetarian. It also took up a significant part of a super small fridge! Anyway, sorry for the moan, but when you str paying 2,500 for a week and a further payment for a dog, you expect the property to be clean.

The cottage is situated in a perfect area for walking, lots of walks to choose from and the buses were regular and just down the road. The Cottage was warm and the beds were very comfortable and the water was always lovely and hot. To make the stay more customer friendly the information pack needs to be kept up to date as it is way out of date, including the bus time table which should have been changed in September and the wi-fi codes as there were two different codes in the pack! The parking spot really is not big enough , even for a small car. My small Audi could not fit in as the back end would have stuck out into the road, on a bend! so really it should not be advertised as parking for a small car ... a Fiat 500 maybe or a Smart car would fit, nothing bigger.

Second visit to this fabulously cosy cottage. Super warm without having to use the upstairs radiators as new log burner worked a treat. Cottage contains all you would need for cooking or baking and facilities for evenings enjoyed catching up on films etc, or playing cards and board games. If you enjoy walking, don't look for another place to stay; lots of places accessible without using the car. The coastal walks are stunning in any weather. Do walk to the dog friendly Geevor Mine café, for a fabulous choice of breakfasts and lunches, and The Queen's arms is 2 minutes on foot for a friendly welcoming meal or quiz night on Thursdays. We highly recommend a stay at Crown Mine Cottage and will be back to stay soon. Thank you for sharing it.

Very welcoming cottage, with scones and clotted cream provided for cream teas. Kitchen well stocked with pots, utensils etc. and lots of games and books for rainy days. Used the log burner a couple of times which made it nice and cozy. The beds were very comfortable and extra blankets were also supplied. Coming from a city it was great to not hear anything outside at night times so I could sleep well. The cottage is ideally located to access the SW coastal path and the Cornish mining heritage sites. It is a 30 minute walk to St Just, with lots of nice shops, cafes bars and art galleries. It is also only 2 minutes to the Queen's Arms Pub that serves very good food. Would happily stay at the cottage again.
