  It's a pleasant light-filled property with lots of space inside for two visitors (and a dog).

  The view towards Godrevy is lovely but the road right outside the apartment is busy and noisy which spoils the tranquility of the scene. The garden is enclosed but one side of the lawn has a drop down to the paved area underneath the balcony, this is not obvious from the way it has been photographed. At one point the drop is nearly 5 feet high. My friend was keen to stay at the property because it has a garden which her dog could play in (given the summertime 'no dogs' restrictions on local beaches in St Ives and Carbis Bay). However, because of the drop it wasn't safe to let him run around. It rained while we were staying and, as the large balcony and steps up to it are made of decking boards, it became very slippery especially as there were a lot of dead leaves on the balcony. The wooden steps are very steep, like the ones on a ferry. The alternative access to the balcony is via picturesque but uneven stone steps up through shrubs on to the balcony. The stone steps could well prove difficult for anyone with mobility problems. When we arrived we initially didn't realise all of the appliances in the kitchen area had been turned off including the boiler and the fridge freezer. The instructions in the manual need to be clearer as to what should be left on or switched off. As has been noted by other visitors, the duvets supplied in the property are too hot for summer time and the bed in the main bedroom is made uncomfortable due to a hole or large dip in the mattress. For security reasons, it would be reassuring to have a bolt or lock on the wooden door giving access to the property's outside space from the road.

  "Probably the best view we've ever had of any holiday villa we've stayed at, this includes the south of France, lake district, Devon, Germany etc.

  Just amazing! The house was very comfortable and had some little touches that we really loved - binoculars, really well equipped kitchen and lots of mugs, so you don't constantly have to wash up. The large fridge freezer was great and made sure we enjoyed the best of the local produce. The beds were all really comfortable and the linen good so we all slept really well. Carbis Bay is a great location, really quiet being residentail but a short walk to St Ives for all the hustle and bustle, perfect. Porthmeor beach cafe - we saw two seals swimming past whilst eating some of the best tapas and fish I've ever had . Magical! The Queens hotel St Ives - we pitched up on a rainy night and had some wonderful food, check out the menu it is just superb. And then to top it of they had an open mic night, a great time for everyone. Godolphin - we went for the bluebells and spent a great time at the property having a tour of the house and enjoying the local arts and crafts at the food and crafts fair.Glendurgan gardens - beautiful and with a great history.Clamoring over the rocks at Godrevy point and again we were joined by a seal for just a few minutes but they were very special moments.We always find Cornwall a special pace but this property made sure we could make the most of out time, even if just walking down to the beach and watching the waves roll in."   Arrived to find house and garden in darkness.

  Not a great welcome after a long drive, front door was then difficult to open. Settled in and then found a third of the house had no power which included the SKY tv set up. Reported the issue and was told nothing could be done until Monday. Not impressed for a property like this. House is stunning, well prepared by the cleaning team, sumptuous towels and very comfy bedrooms. Stunning views but there are some issues. Shower in the en suite is poor, needs grouting cleaned up and a power shower to fit in with the rest of the room. Settees aren't that comfortable which takes the edge off looking at the great views. The leather sofa could do with some good cushions. The kitchen frying pans all need replacing as they are at the end of there lifespan and no longer non stick. The dining plates also need replacing. This is a stunning house but it needs some updating. I appreciate the impact of Covid but if you charge top fees then you need to keep everything in keeping with the luxury feel that most of the property has. Some beach towels would be a nice touch. Please don't think we didn't enjoy our week because of the above feedback it's intended to help as most people are over positive when writing reviews which doesn't help anyone.

  "Our experience at Beachcomber and booking through Carbis Bay holidays was exceptional.

  This is the first time for many years that we spent our vacation in the UK and the first time we have visited Cornwall and we were not disappointed. The weather was also very good which was an added bonus. The service from Carbis Bay Holidays was hassle free from start to finish. All information that we could possibly need was provided before and during our stay. When a problem occurred during the bank holiday we got an immediate response and everything was taken care of with a smile and without any fuss. Beachcomber is ideally located to travel around the popular towns and is perfectly situated for a walk to the beech or to get the train. With regards the Beechcomber property, this is a credit to the owners - Perfect in every way. The view from the property and surrounding area is breathtaking. Every little detail was thought of, from the lovely gifts on arrival, a very nice touch, to the furnishing inside and outside of the property. The whirlpool bath and Nespresso coffee machine provide a little touch of luxury. We have travelled all over the world and Beachcomber would be listed as one of our favourite places." J. & G.   This property is amazing.

  And I would definitely recommend it, it was a real find. Sykes Cottages on the other hand were a complete let down. I called, I whatsapped and messaged on their website as per their requests on any automated response. We had an issue with the heating and plug sockets. I never received a response so I don't know what Sykes Cottages reason was. Other then they were too busy from the auto messages said, I think I first tried to contact them on the Wednesday or Thursday, we were there Saturday to Saturday so fairly large chunk of the holiday we needed some help. I had 4 young children with me and 2 80 year olds with me and the weather was not the greatest so really would have been nice to feel like someone was interested and there to help, interestingly when I was asking about payment they were quick to respond to that. I don't suppose they will let this be published because I get their sense their ethos is to do what works for them. I really want to book this property for next year but I don't think I can put my holiday in the hands of Sykes Cottages. We have been back a few weeks now still nothing. Very dissappointing!
