What our customers say about their holidays

The cottage appeared to be clean on available, but it came apparent the bathroom had not been cleaned appropriately for sometime.
It was evident a cloth had been sweeped across the bathroom , but the shower had black mould around joints and rust on the shower head. The toilet had an horrible bad drains smell, the sink had black mould around the joints and the corner bath plug had a large amount of dark long hair booking the flow of the water when attempting to empty the bath. The kitchen only had one roasting tray so made matters difficult to cook a roast dinner. No mop or hoover, no plug for kitchen sink which was a light brown colour. The floors had not been moped. I purchased a mop, brush and dust pan plus a baking tray. We did ask for a mop and brush which we did receive only to find on r retrun home from a day out that they had removed it from the cottage. I spent my valuable holiday time purchasing toilet blocks, bathroom cleaner, mopping the cottages floors and cleaning the bathrooms but not the shower because it just made me feel sooo unclean. The towel radiator had rust all over it The toilet blocks helped remove the horrible drain smell , the hair removed from.the corner bath and bathroom nice and clean and no mould in sight, except the shower. The baking tray l purchased helped to make up an evening meal without stressing. I am able to provide photos. Would like some money back for the time wasted cleaning the bathroom etc

We had a really lovely stay.
The photos online don't do this property justice. It was bigger all round and more impressive than we imagined. The kitchen was well equipped, and it was a nice addition to have an ice dispenser in the fridge/freezer. The bedrooms were all a good size (other than the single, which was exactly that). The master bedroom was great, with a beautiful and large en-suite. The pool table was good fun. We did have issues getting the TV to work in the games room though. I contacted Skye Cottages about this on day 2, and they didn't get back to me (to ask further questions, not to solve this) on day 6. I didn't bother trying to get this sorted for the one remaining day. The garden was slightly smaller than we imagined, which wouldn't have been a concern if we didn't have young children wanting to run around. However, there was a field and play park out the back of the property, which was a pleasant suprise. The only thing we'd have liked was additional seating in the living room. There wasn't enough for the 6 adults who stayed. The proximity to the beach was amazing. It was so nice to walk the simple 10 minute journey to the seafront. Myself and family have been visiting Swanage for the past 35 years. This is a beautiful property with a fantastic location. We shall definitely come back - thank you.

On arrival, we were delighted to be greeted with festive decorations, including a tree with lights, plus a very nice welcome pack, all left by the kind owner.
We were a group of four couples, plus one dog, each couple had the use of their own bathroom, - 2 bedrooms were en-suite. The master bedroom is fabulous! The house is perfect for a large family or friends, the kitchen diner became the hub of the house, adjoining the very popular games room, with pool table, a great addition to the overall ambience. It is situated in an ideal spot for the beach, there is a lovely park immediately behind that dog owners will appreciate, plus views of Ballard Down from the front bedroom windows. A very quiet and peaceful area to stay. The house was always warm, (a bonus in the winter time) the entrance hall has a bench sitting over a radiator, useful for warming up after a long walk, with plenty of space to store wet boots and coats. It was spotless on arrival, the kitchen is very well equipped, plenty of space to sit and move around each other. On our first night we celebrated our Wedding Anniversary and hired a professional chef to cook for us all, he remarked on the impressive size of the range cooker and spacious working area. It will be a fantastic house to stay in during the summer months, with its bifold back doors and huge bbq, plus the stream trickling nearby. We have no hesitation in recommending this impressive house and hope to return before too long.

Swanage was lovely but unfortunately Poppy cottage did not meet our needs at all.
I stayed in the double bed which was extremely comfortable, however my mother stayed in the twin bedroom & had to remove the duvet from one bed so she could lie on it as the mattress was so uncomfortable, the springs were jutting out so much, they are obviously old and need replacing. I am almost certain that the description did not state a downstairs bathroom (though looks to have been updated since) & there was absolutely no indication of the fridge being in a cupboard under the stairs, I definitely would not have booked. The configuration is all wrong & the term "swing a cat" comes to mind. I actually think we ought to be reimberesd the service charge as I actually removed cobwebs from the windows, wiped down the limited work surface & washed cutlery/crockery before use. It is fortunate that neither of us needed the cooker as there was a 'fat' filled baking tray inside the oven. Also, as the front door doesn't appear to be used often, dirt/dust is building up, & the furniture needs moving regularly to dust underneath. I will not be recommending dream cottages if this is the standard that you find acceptable.

The property itself is in a really great location both for seafront and walking particularly if you have a dog.
We have 1 dog and there is right next door a fabulous and well equipped park which was lovely to stroll in and meet the locals its was great for both dog and humans. Then there is an easy walk down to Swanage sea front and the other way up to the hills. THe property itself was very well equipped with life centering around the very large kitchen and the pool room. There reading nook is useful if someone wants a quiet read or a chill out and there is a small living room with comfortable seating but it is quite small. The only minor downside is that for a house that sleeps 9 there is not really anywhere,. with comfortable seating for everyone to be able to congregate for cosy evenings when the weather is not so good. The kitchen is fantastic and huge and there is a lovely outside seating area and massive BBQ for when the weather is better. Master bedroom is lovely the other rooms are all perfectly suitable though a little tired compared to the pristine kitchen and poolroom area. Overall a fantastic stay and we would definitely return but for me it suits us as a 4 or 6 person if you want to be together.
