What our customers say about their holidays

  • Alan - Verified booking

Really nice house with plenty of space to spread out and relax.

There is an ironing board and tea towels even though we were informed there wasnt. Utensils in the draw and oven trays dirty/oily but a quick run through the dishwasher or wash up in the sink sorted that. Rooms tidy and had been hoovered around the main floor areas only, although maybe could do with the bag emptying as not sure how much it picked up. The kitchen appliances are top notch and very convenient so a real home from home to run a quick wash during your stay so maybe you dont have to pack so much and you could travel lighter. Some parking at the front but tight against the wall, traffic can whizz by a bit. However very adequate parking off the back road, enough for our Sorrento. The better way into Treknow is off the Tintagel road at the top of the village, rather than running the gauntlet up the hill from the Mill pub & restaurant. Very little passing and the main one half way up the hill has a massive pothole which could cause your car serious damage or you might not get out of. Location great with a beautiful view of Trebarwith Strand. Bit of a hike down across the fields and back but well worth it and you should definitely go home fitter than when you started. Tide information brilliant and the beach at Trebarwith when the tide is out is something to behold. Fab. Also swimming at high tide possible with care getting in down through the rocks and just being sensible. The Royal William pub there is also fab. Reasonably priced and just a general nice atmosphere and great food and drink. The seafood sharing platter and Cornish Guinness (Mena Dhu) was fantastic. We travelled out to Port Issac where they shoot Doc Martin - pretty but a bit whiffy. Padstow to dine at Rick Steins - nice but pricey and better food at The Royal William to be honest. Tintagel Castle, Backways Cove, along the coastal path - stunning. Convenience stores local in Tintagel limited, so maybe plan a supermarket delivery, depending on your stay. Or may be trip out to the Seaview farm shop - fantastic meat - burgers, sausages, bacon, steak etc.. Costs a bomb but delicious. Would highly recommend and return.

We had such a brilliant week at Jubilee Cottage.

The cottage was clean and comfortable, and we loved the quirky traditional features. The shutters are lovely! Very comfortable beds too. The layout was perfect for our needs. Family of 2 adults and 2 boys age 10 and 11. They enjoyed the mezzanine level, and would disappear up there after a busy day at the beach . The downstairs shower room also very handy to wash the sand off before going any further into the cottage. The private front area was a little sun trap and great for drying wet suits and storing body boards etc. The back garden with patio furniture was great for relaxing with a glass of wine! The cottage is set in a little hamlet, roads are traditionally Cornish! We have a large Volvo and managed it, the car fit on the designated parking area. You do have to be a relatively good driver to navigate the local roads! Area was outstanding. Short 10 min walk to the beach, not a walk for people with mobility issues, as down a steep track. I managed it in flip flops though so not too bad! Beach gorgeous. Low tide for 3 hours a day only so it’s not a busy busy beach. Kids loved it as little caves and ‘private’ rock pools to play in. Paradise. We were lucky enough to have wall to wall sunshine for the entire week. We visited Rock, Port Isaac and Charlestown. I can Honestly say the most beautiful places in the U.K. I have visited. Also had lunch at the Port William Inn over looking the local beach. Sorry for the essay but we had such a great time I had to tell all. We will be back, thank you

We stayed for 2 weeks and paid a large sum to do so.

On arrival all the windows and doors where open to air the cottage, clean bedding and fresh towels. You are not allowed in till 5pm for covid cleaning well it had not been done fingerprints all over the toaster, mouldy coffee in coffee caddy on work top, dirty oven, bathrooms had a lick and a promise, one set of curtains in the whole of the property and they where hanging off the rail all hooks broken and missing, rugs where filthy, the floors where disgusting our grandchild had black feet and we had no mop so could not clean, windows not cleaned, door knob to front room came off in hand, grass had not been cut and BBQ had not been emptied and the small courtyard had not been swept and full of weeds. Also we were expecting clean bedding and towels the following Saturday as previous holiday accommodations had done so, it did not arrive. The plus was really good kitchen utensils and amazing hot water. The owners had a approx year to get the property up to standard due to covid , maintained and painted throughout nothing had been done. We received an email please leave the cottage as you found it but we emptied the BBQ, cleaned the bathrooms and kitchen, hoovered the floors and removed bedding for the cleaners had we left it as we found it you would know be contacting us asking why we had left in such a dirty state we bought cleaning products so we could feel comfortable during our stay.

We enjoyed our stay at Heatherdale, Treknow.

The Victorian house and it's location exceeded our expectations. We know the area and particularly liked the walk up to the coastal path overlooking Trebarwith Bay, then round robin back to the cottage via Gull Rock House. There are good views from the front windows over pasture fields towards The Strand and The Rumps in the distance. The Rear Garden was secure for our hound dog Bertie but the front garden was for the most part unusable due to the road and no front gate. Within, the house was well equipped, the beds were comfortable and we can see the owners investment and care in creating a holiday feel. Through a big storm we felt protected and when the sun shone we were booting up for another walk or a trip to the tidal beach, setting up our days according to the low tides. There are some maintenance issues. The bathroom sink and hob are cracked, the shower head bracket would not hold it's angle in place so showering is easier hand-held within the bath. The rear patio furniture could do with an update and the middle gate latch needs attention as it blew open a few times. Minor points though not detracting from our enyoyable break... we were sad to leave and would book again.

The house was ideal for our party of 3 adults plus one small dog.

We went out for short walks every day (limited by human arthritis and canine stamina), pursued our various hobbies (photography, needlework, reading) visited the farm shops and cooked all but one of our main meals in the cottage. The house was perfect for this mix: plenty of different areas for different activities at the same time, the coastline a short stroll away and a well equipped kitchen with quality kitchenware. There were a few small maintenance issues the most annoying of which was that the refrigerator is not secured in its housing so it tipped forwards more than once when the door was open and food was spilt inside. There was also a loose door handle on one of the bathroom doors and a leak from an upstairs shower onto the breakfast table. These were irritating but didn’t spoil our holiday and I left a list for the owner. So he could deal with them. One of the best bits was the welcome, for our dog and for us: Some dog biscuits and a throw for the furniture so that the dog could sit with us, and a cake for the humans.. We had a really lovely time and I’m sorry it has come to an end after only a week.
